His goal stats were much better his last two seasons. Also his physicality, being used as an out-ball. All those things were very valuable. I'd say a decision was made that he would fetch a good fee now which could be ploughed back into the squad whereas in a year or two he might be worth a lot less.
From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down, I convulsed with laughter. Someday I intend on reading it. Groucho Marx
This is like someone wrote it who A: isn't a Liverpool fan or B: wasn't watching.
Diaz arrived and was so good he displaced Mane.. He then suffered a horrible knee injury by going at full tilt...which took him out for a long stretch....and we were nowhere as a result. So desperate to get him back in fact that he was rushed back in way too fast - on the ok from an abject medical team... He broke down instantly needing the very surgery he should have had initially!!!
He then came storming back before his parents were both kidnapped (none of this should need explaining to a Liverpool fan btw).. Last season he was instrumental in us winning the title. No Diaz and no chance of that unlikely title.
If you think Salah is hitting those numbers with just Gakpo on the left then you really need to get to a game.
..... Do you even follow football?
Firstly ekitike is not a LW.. he's played about 3 times there in his whole career ?
Secondly.. gakpo injured for a long time for example...... 17 year old raw rio start every game? is gakpo meant to play every league/champions league game ?
Is this how you win titles or anything?
Diaz is one of the reasons nunez got so many chances, why salah did so well, indirectly.... big part of the attack, not replacing him with a similar player is criminal - once again not all about stats..... a lot more to it what he did for us...
Saying that we still need another forward..... well I agree with that.
Amazed if arsenal don't win it this season, come on city only hope.
Both Diaz & Gakpo produced 25 goal contributions last year.
Gakpo with 1 more goal and Diaz 1 more assist.
Diaz did it in 3,336 minutes
Gakpo did it in 2,696 minutes
Gakpo has a better goals & assists per minute record at LFC than Diaz.
Its funny how people bemoan the quality of german teams when we beat them, but little regard for that disparity when Bayern play them.
Its quite simple as a real LFC fan you're supposed to discount goals scored by LFC players v German opposition.
Then you do not discount other teams players playing german club sides.
You then to spend most of your time defending Arteta and any other club other than LFC.
Remember.... when you walk through a storm, cry harder...
Huh? diaz scored more in the league at least, and more assists this aswell as providing more to the team than Gakpo outside of goals and assists, but yeah Gakpo had less minutes and was more of a sub- I wonder why ?? hmmm you know in the title winning team, gakpo was on the bench most of the time.
or we going to count micky mouse competition ? against shitters and 2nd teams?
Doesn't matter does it? he's gone, but obviously missing some pace and directness on the left, unless you're blind

Gakpo has 28 goals & 15 assists in 5,695 PL minutes at LFC
Diaz has 29 goals & 18 assists in 7,019 PL minutes at LFC.
Gakpo goal or assist per 132.4 minutes in PL for LFC.
Diaz goal or assist per 149.3 minutes in PL for LFC.
So why didn't gakpo start every game but Diaz? as you know best.
was nice having some quality depth ey, at least there's no problems this season in that regards!
Diaz was pacier, more dribbling skill and frankly more versatile. He is more likely to open up space by terrifying a defence.
Gakpo is more precise with his positioning, both offensively and defensively which makes his tackles a bit more winnable. He also seems like a better finisher ...
It is actually why the numbers look the way they do. Diaz and his running abilities actually open up the space for Gakpo and his more precise play.
Read this somewhere, sums it up.

Diaz is a different level of player BUT you need to know the sport to understand that.
What the stat me don't see is what you miss when you don't know the game and you take it all from the telly..
For those who don't know.. Daniel was one of the very bes finishers in the game.. Played at the highest level and but for injuries would have been Kane or better.
The stat men are comparing the stats of players who sacrifice themselves up against those who largely slow down the attack - allow teams to spring counters of their slow and ponderous play and turn up to 'slot' (intended) home when others do what they should be doing themselves.
Now that is no slight on Cody - I have seen him many times live and he can be more than decent, but he can also create half our problems - and they don't show up on the statometer the hacks want to present.
Diaz was top level. Anyone who doesn't see that - that's fine.. we all see things differently .. but know that you don;'t have a eye
