Unlike Cody - who is decent but nothing more - he isn’t mainly popping up on the end of a move crafted by others to tap home. He is defending from the front - winning the ball back - driving at teams and causing them to fracture, This is before we look at the numbers. Harry Kane thinks it’s Christmas and he’s been left alone in the house with the Turkey.

Great win last night and we looked much better … but we are massively missing this fella.

Bayern fans believe they have signed the best in Europe btw
When you posted this, I hadn't posted in the thread. Its funny how you've developed a dislike for goals & assists since.

By win ratio, Diaz is better than Salah & Gakpo. And essentially as much better than Salah, as he is better than Gakpo.

Using goals and assists per minute, Salah is better than both Diaz & Gakpo. He's essentially as much better than Gakpo, as he is better than Diaz.

The choice is yours Steveo, accept the importance of goals and assists, which show Salah is better than Diaz.
Or stick with your new metric which posits Diaz is better than Salah.

    A classic deflection.

And in that post I made - which BTW you have now quoted 3 times - I specifically state that my argument moves beyond the numbers to highlight his defending from the front, winning the ball back, and fracturing defences.

Do you have problems reading English?

If you're going to compare players on G+A per minute, you are missing the entire point of the comparison. Diaz offers a different, crucial tactical impact that doesn't always show up on the scoresheet—a factor we are clearly missing.

And Kev is right - you are a waste of time… and I took this stance a year ago and simply ignored you. I should never have allowed myself to get drawn in again.

There is no point engaging with someone who is so clearly unhinged, who is unable to accept reality and - at an instant - ready to tell us that black is in fact white.

And….NO… yet again - the players valuations are not the same , they don’t represent parity in terms of quality and in fact point clearly to one player being considered the superior.

Diaz is about to turn 29 in a few months and Cody just turned 26 the day before yesterday and their current valuations on (Transfermarkt ONLY btw are the same. Even as recently as this summer Diaz was valued at Ł80 million while Cody was Ł70. This despite a near 3 year discrepancy in age and Diaz being so much closer to 30.!

But carry on with your baloney if you must - keep the shilling up from your sordid little bedroom...

However I suggest you disconnect the internet before you embarrass yourself even more.

I always thought Diaz promised a lot but failed to deliver in terms of his team play. He lacked that killer assist ball. His finishing just as bad as everyone else in the squad. We really squander chances.
He lost something after that bad injury.
The problem now is his natural replacement Gakpo is a steady 7/10 player. He doesn't put the fear into opposition defenders.
Ekitike playing on the left could bring that fear factor. He also has that composure when through on goal that you know he will find a way to score rather than our usual find a way to miss habit

Its great seeing Steveo make a case for win rates, then go running from his own argument once again, after it is pointed out that Salah has a win ratio closer to Gakpo and by some distant.

The logical conclusion is that Diaz is about as much better than Salah, than he is better than Diaz. By steveos new bestest metric

Gakpo has the better goals and assists record at LFC than Diaz.

And they have the same valuation as they did last year and this year both 70 mill.

I've already provided the link to our 2024/25 squad valuations. Here it is again
    https://www.transfermarkt.com/liverpool-fc/kader/verein/31/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2024

Both Gakpo & Diaz valued at 70 million.

Here's our 2020/21 squad with valuations

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/liverpool-fc/kader/verein/31/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2020

Salah worth €100 mill at that time.

    The 2023/24 season
    https://www.transfermarkt.com/liverpool-fc/kader/verein/31/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2023

Diaz value ad 75 million and Gakpo 50 million.

So it appears Steveo is trying to argue against the values provided by transfermarkt. An objective and independent data source.

And whilst Gakpo is younger with a rising valuation, he had reached parity with Diaz in terms of value last season.

So thats the reality of market valuations, forum player ratings last year, and Goals and Assists per minute at LFC.

Below is a now out of date list, however, it will serve its purpose in showing how week Steveos new metric really is,

The top 10 players by win ratio:

    1 Araujo
    2 Foden
    3 Zinchenko
    4 Pepe
    5 Ederson
    6 Jesus
    7 Kimmich
    8 Costa
    9 Neymar
    10 Hernandez

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/players-with-the-highest-win-percentages-in-the-21st-century/index/galerie/4008

Whilst out of date that is a list of the top 10 players in world football based on win ratios.

I would agree - he was never quite the same player after the double knee injury. Also
agree he frustrated too often, But he offered that genuine threat which created opportunities for others and as you said -Gakpo - while decent (and I really like the guy) - isn’t going to seriously worry anyone.

I rate Ekitike highly and yes he could play there too but we need him through the middle - the lanky Swede looks very much second best despite the fee.

And here's the top 10 left wingers in the world based on market value.

    1) Vinny jr ------- €150 mill

    2) Kvaradona -- €90 mill
    3) Raphina ------ €90 mill

    4) Yildiz --------- €75 mill

    5) Williams --- €70 mill
    6) Barcola ---- €70 mill
    7) Diaz --------- €70 mill
    8) Gakpo ----- €70 mill
    9) Leao -------- €70 mill

    10) Gordon -- €65 mill

Gakpo, Diaz, Barcola. Williams & Leao are tied for 5th best lwf in world football.

Only Vinny, Kvara, Raphina and young Yildiz are rated higher assets than Gakpo & Diaz.
