And i don't know who keeps telling the players to boot the ball long... Chiesa is not Peter Crouch.. We don't even have Nunez to add physicality.. I can understand we need to switch up play.. And we over play and get nowhere. But being sensible wouldn't go amiss

We sold the squad depth to pay for the additions.

    Klopp managed it at Liverpool.

Match days 22-28 of the 20/21 season we lost 6 and won just the one - in the League.

Match days 4-10 of the 14/15 season as Dortmund manager also was a 6-losses-in-7 spell, with the other game being a draw.

This is not a dig at Jürgen, nor is it a guarantee that Slot will turn things around - just an acknowledgement that slumps happen.

What will be intriguing (if Slot gets the time and isn't sacked) will be where we are as we enter February or so. By that stage we'll have gone through further fires, Slot will hopefully have learnt further lessons about the nature of the League, certain additions will have further adjusted to the pace of the League and we'll have had a forced spell without Salah (AFCON) during which we may land on a team/system that we can take going forward.

Outside of low confidence and some injuries, there's definitely something to be said for the idea that we may have too many Pianists and not enough Piano-carriers.

Just hope we can address it.

Unfortunatly, we did. We recouped a hefty amount of our outlay, which is the model, isn't it. Even under klopp I dont believe we ever had the strongest squad.

Not so easy keeping squad players happy. sometimes players demand they are starters, before they sign contracts.
then theres contract money. you can't have everyone on 200 grand a week. makes you wonder how the likes of Chelsea get away with it.

I think the problem is that wasn’t even squad players, I understand the pathway, but I don’t understand using kids that don’t have the required potential to move into the first team squad , a few of these kids haven’t even been pulling up trees In the academy . It should be a place where you play 8 first team fringe players and bring in a few younger players to see what they can do

Arsenal seem fine...... and have some decent youth........

But carry on, lets make excuses for not having any depth compared to everyone else in the usual top4

can't have everyone on over 200k a week yet we spend 460m, imagine the agent bonuses / signing on fees...... too....... paying declining players- mad wages

But ok..... according to site i've seen we're paying more wages than Chelsea... 250kish behind arsenal a week...... yet.... they have everywhere covered and good depth we have nothing, good init..... Oh wait that's a lie at least we've Got Chiesa and gomez...... amazingg then a bunch of overhyped kids that'll go nowhere! yipeeeeeee.... compare them to arsenals kids

we got lucky with the injury front compared to arsenal last season, arsenal picking up injury's again but have the squad to cover it no problem..... Squad wins leagues and cups... not just a first 11, especially when you have aging players and injury prone players.... even then at least last season we had cover on the wings, and options off the bench....Better than rio and chiesa ...

Isn't there a rule of how many English players you have to have in the academy?? Its a double edged sword. These players need games to prove their up to it. but then they don't get it cause rightly so football is a results based business.

Arsenal have continued to pour money into their squad over the last 5/6 years.. they have pumped in 100s and 100s and 100s of millions and still yet to win anything major.. It's about end results.. Arsenal now have to win consistently over the next few years. To warrant that amount of input.
As for wages.. lets see what happens when the Arsenal players want increases in their wages once their contracts are coming to an end.. the more successful they are the more they'll want.

In the end its all about who wins trophies. So far Arsenal haven't done it.. so its just pie in the sky..
