23 isn't he?
Once again the whole "if it works it could look a steal in 5 years" versus "do we get stuck with an over-priced player" thing - would be great if we had some Academy lads coming through as the Premier League transfer tax and Ingurlund transfer tax are so unhelpful.
I'd prefer Adam Wharton. He'd be great as the number 6, which would release Grav to be able to get further forward.

This was my point last season when everyone was saying what a blessing it was we didn’t get a number 6… The logic then was Geavenberch has been a revelation. I kept saying - yep he is playing well - now imagine that driving forward with a Zubimendi/Caicedo behind and you are talking Prime Klopp side number of points
No crash and burn - CL challenge too… Rotation - options in games to switch things. Klopp’s top sides had this - folks forget… We had the power cube
and Ox to come in and change things up - we had the grafters and the sprinkling of angel dust… Problem was we had it for barely 2 seasons and simply stopped trying to make sure we kept that flexibility. The owners likely looked at the squad and said - too many mids not starting…. ? Utter nuts - that’s what elite looks like. Options.. You need it for the mix… the sheer number of games… v the low block - v overly physical sides - the sides that come for you and the top level sides that keep the ball.
One small squad gets rinsed IF you are to win any one of the major titles and the next year you are odds on for the slump.
When did we last buy a midfielder of who could start/challenge or rotate as 1 of the 3? Im not counting Wirtz as a mid btw.
Thiago… That’s the last time we actually went out for a genuine top level senior to challenge an existing trio already in situ and considered top level. Even that tho was after they knew they weren’t giving Gini the contract he was after.
And that’s a sad indictment. And don’t get me wrong - he was a wonderful player - superb technique - BUT he was bought years too late - his best years behind him and crucially - was well known - even in his prime to be injury prone. We got him for relative peanuts - that’s why we did it. Too little too late.
We just don’t do it, Be it Defenders or Mids… IF we can get by with 3 mids and the drop off to rotation is huge… We say - that’s ok…
Well at the top level - it never is… Only - IF you have a Jurgen Klopp on board perhaps - then you can fool some into believing you can
Not wanting to open that can of worms again but Endo could do that. No, he's not as good Caicado / Wharton et al but he could and can do that job.
He did it perfectly well for Klopp, when Klopp didn't fancy Grav. Now Slot doesn't fancy Endo but likes Grav...
But the point is well made, you can never have too many quality players.
