Has to start somewhere - getting the balance right will be the next bit.
We've gone from losing 3 matches on the spin by 3-goal deficits to scoring 3 and conceding 1 in 4 halves of football. The 4 points isn't enough and that performance isn't enough, but it's a start.
We've gone from insisting on Salah starting every match despite his horrific form to giving him one half of the four available.
We've gone from "oh no, he's going to stick Szoboszlai at right-back and Grav in at centre-back again isn't he" to bringing Jones on and putting him in at right-back, with the press from Jones leading to the goal.
As tiny as these "little wins" are and whilst we remain very much UNDENIABLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH I will take increments of improvement on the condition that they continue to come.
Things like Ekitike getting starts over Isak, Szoboszlai getting a break somewhere, Jones maybe getting a start over Mac Allister at present - these are the sorts of things that very much need to be coming thick and fast.
Any improvement after losing 6-in-7 is going to be incremental. We aren't going to Boss it overnight and it could well be that Slot is indeed out of his depth, but so long as there are some green shoots of recovery I'd still be a little reluctant to swing the axe JUST yet as we have seen the damage caused to so many clubs that chop-and-change too regularly and end up with incredibly mish-mashed squads.
My word do need a slice of luck soon to get a little something started. Can't wait until we can next score the opening goal in the first 10 minutes or something and knock it about a bit - the players are desperate for confidence.
