I'd like you to explain your thought process. What point are you trying to make with that Shankly video? You can keep posting it as many times as you like but I want you to answer the question.

well noone can be called glory hunters now because we won't win shit

Always look on the bright side.... someone i worked with changed from supporting port vale to stoke city... I don't know how you can do such a thing.... especially when vale only got promoted.... yeah probably going back down but still..... think it's because stoke are doing well..

maybe those lucky enough to even be on a waiting list, won't have to wait as long.... always positives

4 the clown - 2 see IF it can find the link:

[00:05] My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. You know, like Napoleon had that idea he would conquer the bloody world, you know? And that's what I wanted, that Liverpool would be untouchable.

[00:18] The game wasn't good enough for the public in Liverpool. The team wasn't good enough for the public in Liverpool. And there was nothing good enough for the public in Liverpool, nothing at all. It was only potential.

[00:30] I've got the ways and means of motivating people. There was only one aim, that was to bring the European Cup and all the cups to Liverpool.

[00:36] We always got to a cup at Liverpool. That's the whole essence. Have no cup, the place doesn't look too good.

[00:42] And if you're a member of the Kop, you feel as if you're a member of a big society where you've got thousands of friends all around about you and they're united and loyal.

[00:54] I think that psychology is a form of exaggeration and exaggeration is a form of psychology.

[01:00] The black [plaque] was my idea: "This is Anfield." And it's in red and it's painted and it's a form of intimidation.

[01:06] They're all complaining about the referee and the bad decisions. I said he didn't put the bloody ball in the net, did he?

[01:12] I think that the team in the mid-60s, I think they were the best team that's been in this country since the war. I don't think so, I'm certain of it.

[01:21] They weren't kneeling down to me because I was God or anything. They were pleased that they had won something. They were proud.

[01:29] The present Liverpool that sits now was made by these boys. My life was spent there fighting to get them somewhere.

[01:39] They decide to leave the club possibly, it was like going to the electric chair.

[01:46] I've drummed it into our players time and again that they are privileged to play for you.

[02:01] And if they didn't believe me, they believe me now.

What is wrong with him? Why does he think his glory hunting is remotely comparable to Shankly?

Great words from Shanks. We need that attitude. I'm always a bit wary when a manager seems okay with losing....that's what worries me about Slot. Hopefully he can turn it around but not convinced right now.

They are great quotes and of a different time. I guess everyone picks the bits they like and ignores the rest.

They're all complaining about the referee and the bad decisions. I said he didn't put the bloody ball in the net, did he?
Meanwhile the whoppers are on the match threads complaining about referees.

And if you're a member of the Kop, you feel as if you're a member of a big society where you've got thousands of friends all around about you and they're united and loyal.
If you're a member of the Kop. Correct Bill. Not some glory hunter hundreds of miles away, thinking they are somehow better than other fans. Criticising the owners and calling for managers to be sacked. He wasn't talking about those people.

Yeah Bill, yeah all that glory Hunting stuff,
    what was that all about…?

Oh the times have changed - the drive for success, winning things and becoming a “bastion” of invincibility doesn’t have the same meaning in 2025 as it did it in the 1960’s. Not ‘these days’..

The aim isn’t to win ‘these days’. It’s to question if and why folks don’t frequent their local lower league club or Pub team…. It’s to turn up on a football forum - to bitch and moan about people moaning…

Quite novel really. But it’s where we’ve ended up Bill.

Success ‘these days’… is purely relative…’these days’ the aim is sustainable financial growth. facilitating the punters who will pay the most in the ground and prioritising them over the fans you wanted to represent Bill.

You brought Shankly into this. You listed the quotes to make a point. It's a bit ironic that you don't like some of them.

Shankly is the one who specifically mentions: "And if you're a member of the Kop ...". That's not me saying it. It's pretty clear who he is referring to. His holy trinity doesn't include whoppers hunderds of miles away.

The rest of us are glory hunters. Nothing wrong with that. Just don't think you're anything else.

And Ah'm often on the Kop, unlike that numpty Jokestrap... Ah traivel thoosands o' miles a year tae see the team Ah love.
