Elliott simply isn't good or physically big/strong enough at the very top level for me....A squad/league cup player at best...Like others have said Villa don't want him why should we??...

Depth, until such times as we can "raise the floor" via transfer activity.

If Elliott can give 15-20 minutes on a semi-regular basis to ease the pressure on certain players depending on their role on the day (Szob, Jones, Wirtz, Salah, whoever) rather than allowing certain players to dip into the "red zone" of injury risk towards the end of games then I won't shun it, much as I feel we do need to continue to strive to continually improve.

Yeah. I would agree with that. If there's one thing we've suffered this season it's looking to the bench and just not having many options especially in certain positions. Harvey is decent. Don't want to see someone like Szobo run into the ground as he's played probably nearly every minute this season so far. We need some options from the bench. The new players have either struggled physically a la Wirtz and Kerkez or been out injured a la Frimpong so we need more. Probably got rid of too many in the summer.

I also think (if Harvey does come back into the fold) his capacity to offer a rotation option or minutes in the closing stages of games would be all the more valuable given that we might have four midfield-profile players on the pitch at once.

If Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and one of Jones or Wirtz are one the pitch simultaneously on any regular basis (4 rather than 3) then the burnout risks become all the greater, especially if one of them picks up an injury.

Before it would have been Grav, Mac and Szob play, while Endo, Jones and Harv provide depth, 3-for-3.

If we play the Diamond, or something akin to the Diamond (Carra quipped about a "Pentagon" recently) then less players are getting breaks in the midfield, which looks the part of the pitch that will make or break our success at this current time.

Yes. We've already seen this season the impact of Mac not being at it. That's one of our key trio. It's also had a huge impact on the defence since they're under more pressure. If we lost Grav or Szobo then we can kiss top 4 goodbye.
