Yildiz would be a ridiculously promising acquisition if we continued his development. Not sure how viable it is, but that'd be one Hell of a piece of future-proofing.
I'd obviously love Guehi here (who wouldn't?) but I have concerns about us maybe paying £20m or more for a player with so little time left on their contract - it could set a precedent for the market for future years.
Exactly, people were concerned that we were will to pay £35m in the summer for him then moaning that that we didn’t get it over the line for the sake of £5m more.
Palace have agreed a £35m fee with Spurs for Brenan Johnson.
Where are they getting £35m from I wonder…🧐
Do you think it's someone else in for Guehi? Or us keepin quiet but about to act?
My gut feeling based on distilling all the overload of media stuff..Guehi will come to us in the summer, think it's tacitly agreed. (Also wouldn't be surprised to see Glasner come with him).
In the interim, because we desperately need at least someone for centre back this window, I think we will go for that young Colombian lad that plays in Belgium. (Can't remember his name). Chelsea have pulled out of 'the race', leaving us at the front of the queue I believe. I'm sure none of us on here have seen much of him, but you know he seems very highly rated for a 21 year old. Came through the same club as Caicedo.
I’d be made up if we did finally land him. Seems to be that rare breed of player that sticks to his word so fingers crossed.
Glasner would be a risk for Henry and co though. Doesn’t take any shyte from those above him. Could see him causing a right stink were he stiffed on budget like Jurgen was.
Well Parish runs a pretty tight ship and if he’s preparing to part with £35m I would guess he believes all or very near it, must be on it’s way into the Palace coffers
That he does.. let's hope that money is arriving from the western most end of the East Lancs road then..
Actions speak louder than words. I'm sure there are numerous examples of a player seemingly having agreed terms to join a club, but then they have effectively renaged on the deal because another team has come in for them, they have been offered more money, or the club they were going to join have fallen off a cliff.
Any of the above reasons could end up biting us on the arse. We needed to get the deal done in the summer. Irrespective of whether Guehi signs for us or not, heads need to roll for the way we've handled transfers and the non addressing of problem areas of the pitch, namely the CB and DM positions.
