Egypt Benin last 16. Mo Salah looks so much sharper than when he has played for us this season. Is that just poor quality of opposition defence? Tight game, nil nil second half.

Proper fan - can't wait to belittle one of our greatest ever players.

    1. Major League-Wide Records (All-Time)
These are records held by Salah across the entire history of the Premier League, surpassing legends like Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, and Wayne Rooney.

Most Goal Involvements in a 38-Game Season (47):

Set in the 2024/25 season (29 goals, 18 assists).

He surpassed Thierry Henry’s previous 38-game record (44) and tied the all-time record set by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole (who did it in 42-game seasons).

    Most "Opening Day" Goals (10):

Salah scored his 10th opening weekend goal against Bournemouth in August 2025, extending his own record. He is the only player in history to hit double digits in Matchweek 1.

    Most Left-Footed Goals:

Salah obliterated Robbie Fowler’s record (105) back in 2023. As of Jan 2026, he is far clear of anyone else in history.

    Highest Scoring African Player:

He overtook Didier Drogba (104) years ago and is now closing in on the 200-goal mark, a milestone no other African player is remotely close to.

Most Assists by an African Player:

He holds the record for most assists by an African international, having surpassed Riyad Mahrez’s tally in 2023.

Most Games Scored in during a 38-Game Season (24):

He set this in 2017/18. While Haaland broke the goal record, he did not score in as many separate matches as Salah did that year.

    2. Significant Statistical Quirks
Most Goals vs. Manchester United: Salah holds the record for the most goals scored against Manchester United by any player in Premier League history (surpassing Alan Shearer).

Most Player of the Month Awards in a Single Season (3):

He was the first player to win this award three times in one campaign (2017/18). (Later equaled by Marcus Rashford).

Only player to score vs Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, and Chelsea in the same season multiple times.

    3. Liverpool Specific Records (Club Records)
While these are club records, they are significant given Liverpool's history.

Liverpool’s All-Time Top Premier League Goalscorer: Overtook Robbie Fowler (128) in 2023.

Most Consecutive Games Scored in for Liverpool: 10 games (2021).

First Liverpool player to score 20+ goals in four different PL seasons.

Summary of the "New" Record (2024/25 Season)
The most important recent addition to this list is the Goal Involvement Record. For years, the debate was whether Salah's 2017/18 season (32 goals, 10 assists) was his peak. However, his performance in the 2025 title win (29 goals, 18 assists) is now statistically arguably the greatest individual season in Premier League history, as he was directly responsible for 47 goals, a number Erling Haaland has not yet reached in a single campaign.

The defenders he's up against play for:

    Yverdon
    Petrolul Ploiesti
    Ludogorets Razgrad
    AS Sobemap

But you go ahead and kid yourself that he's actually playing really well.

Go show me the teams the Luxembourg defenders play for - Florian hardly tore them a new one.. Yet despite his fee and his lack of form at that time I don't recall anyone having a pop.

To be trolling Mo Salah.. is a new low even for you.

You're not a genuine Liverpool fan - and anyone with half a brain has figured you out..

One day I'll explain levels in sport to you. It's just too much hard work right now dealing with you.

Until then, just trust me. Salah isn't playing against a Premier League level defence in that Benin match.

How are Arsenal doing? Any injuries for our match with them on Thursday? And shouldn't you be on one of their forum?

I don't think he's trolling Mo Salah. Just saying that the quality of defenders for Benin are not like prem quality. Which is what I was asking myself.
