Whilst I don't think we go all the way this season, I still maintain we have a reasonable chance in Europe.
We've managed two matches against Arsenal, who are undeniably (albeit annoying to admit) one of the best sides in Europe at the present moment (which can of course change quickly) and we haven't conceded. Meanwhile in our League phase games we have done enough to be in contention for automatic qualification.
It'd require some luck (always does) but it's 6 games to reach a Final, with 3 of them at Anfield under the lights in a season where fans need a distraction from a Domestic campaign that couldn't get going. You just never know.
Anyway - much as I'd have loved a win tonight, will absolutely take the goalless draw when I had anticipated conceding to 2 silly set pieces or an undeserved penalty. Man United and Chelsea failed to gain ground on us and we don't have to play Arsenal (in the League) again, so small victories.
Hopefully we can find more attacking threat but that was a respectable performance.
It was a strange match. Obviously a good result and I think a good performance, at least a battling performance. We actualy played quicker for spells, moreso than we have for most of the season, but offset it by playing without a striker... And it was mental seeing Gakpo almost playing as a 3rd CB at times!
Arsenal may well end up as champions, but I can't see them dominating, especially if Arteta remains in charge.
Something, Something, Something, Dark Side
It's early January. The title is a long, long way from being decided.
VOTE JOCKY tae fix this fiasco.
