Absolute they were and Hibes for seeing the picture and drilling it in to Ekitike’s feet knowing what he has in his locker that was absolute class

Szobo’s ball that Wirtz fluffed was absolute class

Szobo’s ball and the weight of it was the very essence of why there should be stats for the pass before the assist as it absolutely made that goal, the weight and trajectory of it put Wirtz in a position he had to just out it across for Ekitike the pass dictated that

Used to see that all the time with Alonso

People underrate the pass before the assist that really makes the goal all the time

Wirtz had 4 involvements, 2 good 2 terrible.
Better .. but this was Barnsley at home. Come back when he does it on a regular basis against even average Premier League sides.

The mental gymnastics sure is fun to watch. All they have to do is admit they were wrong.

    Here we go

Suppose Gakpo and chiesa really showed why they shouldn't be at the club then, or at least gakpo should not be starting every week, rio's nowhere near ready fact is hugo and wirtz did so much more in 30 minutes and it's embarrasing they was needed against a team fighting league one relegation.

Apart from the no9 position how long has it been since we've been so poor wide attackers? must be going back a bit to the Balotelli days, yes I know he wasn't a wide player but I can't quite remember- wasn't it sterling and Lallana Markovic and suso 14-15?

the players that hardly play, need to go, simple as that and replaced, a LW to start over gakpo- and gakpo a squad player, a CDM to rotate - not sure what's going on with salah possibly even 2 attackers a CB--- Squad is far from built, gone backwards

Players that are hardly fit, bit of a problem too, especially when the squads not big enough to carry said players

This is the Wirtz thread Kev, people were talking about his performance v Barnsley, it doesn’t affect my opinion on him that Gakpo has been utter gash all season or that Chiesa hasn’t been able to affect the couple of games he’s been involved in.

I don’t watch Liverpool through rose tinted glasses, I call it as I see it, which is .. or should be, the purpose of posting on a Forum.

Wirtz missed an absolute sitter before scoring then fluffed an excellent chance with a poor touch after good work from Robertson.
Those things happened… why does it annoy you so much that it was pointed out?? I don’t say he never does anything right just as you shouldn’t say he never does anything wrong

It wouldn't have mattered what Wirtz did in that game, your mind was made up.

You've backed yourself into a corner with your statement that he'll never make it here. Therefore every game is viewed through that lens. You could just come clean and admit you got it horribly wrong. That way you could enjoy watching a huge talent in a red shirt. Instead you keep digging. Eventually you'll hit the bottom and storm off in a huff telling us how it's all my fault. For now it's hilarious watching you jump through mental hoops to avoid giving Wirtz his dues.

In the Jurgen Klopp era, my favourite of all the players was Bobby Firmino, and I know the squad members were in awe of his ability.
For me Wirtz is that player in this squad. There are a couple of posters on here who will be embarrassed if they go back and see what they wrote about Firmino, week after week, saying that he didn't score goals, he wasn't the second Ian Rush, as a number 9 should be.
Wirtz is becoming central to our attacking movement.
