football and tactics/formations change over the years Mourinho & rafa's defensive style has been replaced by the high press.
i have been banging on about returning to 3 man midfield all season and giving us options with 3 upfront, 4 3 3 or 4 3 2 1 or 4 3 1 2.

Sometimes a number of players get old around the same time and the squad needs rebuilt.

It's a never ending cycle.

I’ll admit I was acting in part to gauge why ppl had the attitudes to certain things they did, for instance I’m aware a lot of the Souness Evans Houllier guys won’t likely know how Souness changing what he did caused us to fall from grace for over 2 decades and why seeing Slot repeating that combined with selling our best player to a rival as Souness did would freak me the fuck out as much as it has

A lot of people don’t seem to have the understanding of automation, positioning and movement off each other, muscle memory of a team built up over years over 3 or 4 different teams as we saw from Bob to Kenny and how disastrous messing with the blueprint can be as we saw with Souness and Evans compounding that

You can’t just take serial winners from a 433 with all that good stuff built up over 10 years and each position improved on until last year all knowing exactly what each other would do in any given situation or position and thrn put those players in a different formation and style and think it will work - This is why CCTV and his obsession with stats make him a football illiterate , he just doesn’t understand it most don’t, they think you can’t take these players and put them in any formation and it’s fine

Real too top level football, serial winning football just doesn’t understand not and will not ever work like that

Problem arguing about that is that we won a title NOT playing in a 4-3-3 too often last season. Szobsoslai played a lot of games as a 10. We played a lot of games, or large portions of games playing a 4-2-4.

And this is why Slot deserves his credit for winning the title last season. The idea that he's just taken Jurgen's team and just told them to carry on 'as you were' from last season is just laughable. It was quite clearly a different set-up from Jurgen's side. And it was just as effective.

The problem for Slot is that he's changed it again, but this time it's not working.

We'll see how stubborn he is, in how he sets us up going forward. If he continues the set up we're currently employing, we'll continue to struggle and he'll get the sack.
