Enjoyed the new formation although i dont know much about it,4 2 2 2 box midfield?
Noticed ekitikie and salah start wide with wirtz & dom high press although i cant see it working against dreaded low block.

4222 was 2 sixes 2 tens and 2 forwards with the full backs mostly providing the width I called it thr box midfield for that reason 😂

That wasn’t especially it although we took that shape a fair bit to be fair with Wirtz LC10 and Dom arriving into RC10 in my view

It was a 4312 starting

Jurgen used to play the 2 forwards as they were last night v some opposition especially if the full back could own Mo

So they are both in a position where neither the full back or CB can mark them sort of just between the 2 where it isn’t comfortably and doesn’t confirm to their shape for either to

Part of it is they are supposed to make inside out runs to be released behind the full back and when when goes wide the other is supposed to come in as though there’s a length of rope between them

It works great v a back 3 as thry can be released down the side of LCB or RCB as we saw a lot with Ekitike and that can be a ball played into feet he controls to take it rhere, it slid down from the line or a ball through the channel between CB & RCB he gets thevother side of in behind RCB or a ball between LCB & CB he gets from moving across when our RFWD is wide receiving in behind their centre CB

I liked we had just Ekitike and Mo mostly looking to work them that way with Wirtz or Szobo or Macca or Grav or any 2 of them arriving

Sometimes less is more in my view, you have more space to make well timed runs into the ball

Defenders gate it because CBs especially like to have someone to mark and you’ve got an effective front 2 who aren’t giving them anyone to mark really 😂 while our 2 are effectively marking 2 of their back if we lost it making it harder for them to play out

There are loads of great aspects to it loads more than that but ppl will most if I go on 😂😂

I'd expect most of the transfer news will be around which of our youngsters go out on loan.

Slot is supposed to be a big admirer of James McConnell, just returned from Ajax.

Will Jayden Danns get fit in time for a loan or will we keep him?

Will Harvey Elliott remain at Villa or go to the States?
