Tbf to Slot hes at the club 1.5 years now and seemingly getting the blame for the performances of the youth teams and the talent being developed.
I was pissed he brought Hugo on last night. But you can see why hes going stronger in these cups.
The furore around the efl cup selection was odd and essentially way and above any criticism of Klopp for binning off the domestics.
I'm still not convinced. We're still sixth in the league. Our last eight league results have included two wins against Sunderland and an underperforming Newcastle, four draws, with three of those draws coming against Burnley, Leeds and Fulham, and two losses. We lost two and ended up drawing one of those games in injury time. A couple of victories against the Tyne-Wear teams, one against an underperforming Brighton in the FA cup, and beating Marseille and the mighty Carrier Bag in the CL doesn't mean that we or Slot have turned a corner and that everything will now be hunky dory.
I think we're picking up victories here and there because we have some good quality players in the team, not because Slot has suddenly become a top drawer tactician and motivator. Yesterday Slot was talking to a couple of our players sitting on the bench and they were taking zero notice of what he was saying. If he somehow does enough to keep his job beyond this season I suspect that we'll be having the same issues next season as those we've had and still are having this season.
Do you think the youth team and academys performance are due to Slots arriving in summer 2024 ?
Seems pretty evident that Klopp had that much influence that the academy is still his product for now.
I admire Klopp, more than most & certainly Steveo, but not even Klopp could beat the disrespect out of players.
At the end of the Klopp era, he left a legend, exhausted from the demands. We saw how Salah reacted poorly to Klopp subbing him, and he tried to get Slot sacked earlier this season.
In contrast many of the players just seem like wage collectors. And whislt that doesnt piss me off too much, the antics around departures is fucking embarrassing, with lucho diaz topping the scumbag charts for me.
If Slot is replaced by Alonso, or whoever, I hope the next manager starts off being an absolute cunt.
You talk about playing for Madrid/Barca whilst under contract you're dropped immediately and do not play for LFC again.
No player can be captain or club captain with 2 years remaining on their contract.
VVD & Trent would not have been captain when Slot arrived. Only exception, maybe a player running down contract at end of career, say VVD now.
Sick to death of these pr whinning cunts.
Sick of the disrespect shown to the club.
VVD, Salah & MacA have been really poor this season in terms of their conduct.
2 of those were part of our 3 amigos last year.
MacAs form dropped off a cliff once real came in, as if trying to force out a move.
I don't know how much influence Slot is having on our youth teams. One thing I would say is that Slot's reluctance to give any of our youth players some significant first team playing time, notably Ngumoah, doesn't suggest that he's a manager that encourages and makes good and use of youth players.
Klopp was much more of a motivator than Slot and he certainly wouldn't put up with the likes of Salah's antics. Klopp would have been universally backed over Salah, the fact that the same kind of backing wasn't afforded to Slot despite the drop off in Salah's performances says it all.
It's down to Slot to deal with any players who are just going through the motions and collecting their huge pay packets. If he can't get what he needs out of the players, or isn't willing to drop those players and play others such as some of our youth and fringe players instead, he shouldn't be our manager.
Our drop off, lack of a good squad, and waiting too long to renew contracts has led to us being vulnerable to players leaving or threatening to leave. As infuriating as these situations and those players are, it's up to us to make sure that we don't keep leaving ourselves in such a position. Players should not be able to hold us over a barrel e.g. Konate. We should be in a position to tell the likes of Konate to sign a reasonable contract or bugger off. As it is he holds the cards because we're short in quality numbers at the back and we keep waiting far too long to hold contract talks with players.
I don't believe that lots of our players have all reached the point of being over the hill at the same time. Whilst I think one of two players such as Mac Allister may well be done, I think Slot's use of our players and his apparent lack of motivational skills are exacerbating the problems we're having.
Must admit I expected more from Slot on player development

Philosophies on Player Development
When we look at how Arne Slot’s Feyenoord compares to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, one key area to explore is their philosophies on player development. Arne Slot has gained recognition for his dedication to nurturing young talent and bringing them into the first team fold.
At Feyenoord, he’s known for giving chances to academy graduates and emerging players, offering them valuable playing time to grow and refine their skills. This emphasis on youth development resonates with Feyenoord’s tradition of producing top-notch players through their esteemed academy system.
A quote from yesterday’s post match presser on why Rio only got 13 minutes yesterday..
“It’s difficult when we have what in my opinion is the best left winger in the World.”
Say what now Arne??
Before he joined us one of Slot's alleged favourite things to do was review various cafés across the Netherlands. Apparently he also likes 80's music, with his favourite song being "Pass the Dutchie" by Musical Youth.
In the same vein of the situation and immortal words uttered in the film 'When Harry Met Sally' - "I'll have what he's having". I could also do with escaping reality for a bit.
That’s a serious issue if he genuinely believes we can’t do better than Gakpo on our left flank.
