Not Wirtz’s fault whatsoever but shows the absolute folly of trying to install not just any player, but one with a very unique way of playing as a designated playmaker is as I warned when complaining about all the other players being played out of form trying to do so and our title defence written off

You can be without them as today

They can be man marked

The opposition can set traps to nick it off them and counter

Better the whole team make the play then you don’t have any of those issues that midfield 3 never struggled making the play last season

I’ve been praising him, he’s in my team every game, I’m very happy we’ve changed to 3 ahead of him and him coming from deeper linking

I’ve been happy with our midfield for a good while now and that he’s starting from midfield and we’re not a forward short

I’ve said all these things Today I made the point about what I said in relation to it being fucking dumb to try and make all your play go predominantly through one player and the first half showed how valid that was

Wirtz did nothing last week v Brighton, there is absolutely zero evidence to suggest the performance would have been any better with Wirtz in the 11.
