Interesting selection dilemma in midfield for tonight’s game v Galatassary as Wirtz is only just back from injury and the midfield has been doing well in his absence and Gakpo and Mo have both scored goals

Wirtz played on left a position that doesnt suit him.

No idea why he did that, this is my issue with him he won’t accept what he dreamt up hasn’t worked and won’t and keeps trying to go back to it

If he’d accepted that despite his formation change the players naturally slipped into 433 a lot of the time and that win the league and recruited for that we’d be top of the league

If he would just accept his idea hasn’t worked and stayed 433 as he played for 3 games and stuck to it we’d be in the race and every time he dies it it disrupts what was beginning to work and gel and like starting over

With Wirtz out the players were just settling into playing more like the 433 with 3 forwards again regardless of what the line up says it is on paper

Then changes it and we have a disastrous showing again

Clear as day we played 4231 last year and this year.

Big problems for Slot and us, are the big players.

Alisson missing games.

Konate dropped off.
VVD unrecognisable.

MacA unrecognisable.

Gakpo dropped off.
Salah unrecognisable.

Thats 6 of our title winning squad.

The fullbacks

Whoever has played instead of Trent not a major issue. Injuries have been.

Kerkez done fairly well in his debut season. Most wanted him signed up.

Midfield
Grav & Sobozla have had decent seasons, Sobozla has tailed off in recent times, his head a bit too big.

Ekitike has been better than Diaz.

Wirtz has done well in his debut season.

As far as Im concerned the performance has been miles off the quality at Slots disposal.

Looks like a rotten camp, and Slot was undermined massively by Salah and then less so by MacA. I'd include VVD in an undermining 3. Amazing to me how VVD has largely escaped the firing squad, his leadership on the pitch and off it this year, miles off last seasons.

All the talk is Alonso coming in, his boys Frimpong & Wirtz look like they have the right attitudes.
Were I Alonso, MacA & Salah are gone this summer. Konate probably leaves for real or psg, and VVD stays.

The next manager needs to rip out the Player FC vibes that have ruined our season.
A season where everyone was expected to give their utmost for the club and to remember Jota with some honour.
Saddest thing about this season is the PL, and how easily we could have stumbled right back into a title challenge and never managed to get back in the mix. So many opportunities missed.

That's an excellent summary of the season so far. One correction

Were I Alonso, MacA & Salah are gone this summer.

No matter who the manager is, Macca and Salah need binned in the summer. They have been a waste of space all season.

Wirtz is a good player but only suited to being a 10 or maybe false 9,he could play firminos role in a 4 3 1 2 this season but next season i would be looking at getting our best players on the pitch,isak,wirtz,szobo,salah's replacement that would still lean towards a 4 2 1 3/4 2 3 1.
