FSG you twats. Admit you made a mistake, bin off Slot, Edwards and Hughes, offer to make Klopp the highest paid manager in the PL, if not the world, and give him cast iron guarantees that he'll have a hefty transfer budget every year to spend on the players he wants, and get him back to where he belongs!!!Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says speculation that he will return to management with Real Madrid this summer is "nonsense".
The 58-year-old has been linked, external with a move to replace Alvaro Arbeloa at the end of the season.
Klopp left Anfield at the end of the 2023-24 season and has not coached since - taking up a role as head of global football with Red Bull.
He denied any talks with Real but says he might coach again.
The German told reporters at the Magenta TV World Cup team presentation in Munich: "If Real Madrid had phoned, we would have heard about it by now.
"But that's all nonsense. They haven't called even once, not once. My agent is there, you can ask him. They haven't called him either.
"Right now I'm not thinking about that, luckily there's no reason to.
I know it's almost certain that he won't be coming back, but we can but dream.
Any comments of Klopp's I have seen in his interviews always tend to have some reference to loving the lack of media/press obligations and having free time to do stuff.
I'd be surprised if he would want to come back just yet and given he has rejected jobs like "Disneyland" Man United I can easily imagine him taking an eyebrow-raising job like an international side or a side that isn't necessarily in vogue.
As to firing Edwards/Hughes/Slot - there will definitely be a head that rolls somewhere - but I would be extremely surprised to see a clean sweep of all three at once - I don't believe that the structure is, in its entirety, utterly incompetent....it may be that the blend is wrong however.
Our recruitment for example - Isak, Ekitike, Kerkez, Frimpong, Mamardashvili, Wirtz - there isn't a single player there that I think can't be of real value to a 25-man Liverpool squad, but the blend of what came in and what left wasn't quite right and it would appear we have the wrong man at the helm to best manage it. I suspect if we were to address the gaps we created and appoint the right Manager we get a lot closer.
Irrespective of how ridiculously poorly the season has gone by the club's recent high standards, we sit here (rightly so) bemoaning many things and yet if we hit the pause button after 31 League matches played and finish the season now, we're in the last 8 of the FA Cup, last 8 of the Champion's League and would (narrowly) finish in the Champion's League spots. So the current set-up is somewhat flawed (to say the least!) but I would be tweaking it, rather than shredding it entirely. I'd like to see what we might look like with keeping Edwards and Hughes for another season, but appointing the right Manager.
I'd love Klopp back if he was up for it and I'd love to see him backed with the odd window like last Summer - but I wouldn't yet be giving him, nor anyone, absolute free reign of who they buy. Klopp's talents in coaching and motivation are legendary, but people forget who some of his "picks" were in our early seasons and who we ended up with (he had to be convinced on Salah for example, who I think was 4th-choice) so I still like the principle of data analytics and some committee thinking being utilised for transfers to a degree.
I'd say finish what we started with this recruitment drive so the squad looks balanced again (targeting multiple players who enjoy the left half-space at once was odd - remedy that sort of thinking) and get the right coach in.
The synergy between fanbase and coach isn't there. Slot's "calm" football of last season felt absolutely right at the time as it presumably had the "best of both" (think of when Martinez joins Everton and they still retain defensive solidity in a Moyes side with Martinez's possession and attacking style, before it went too far in the Martinez direction and they lost structure) whereas now it has gone too far towards this....."nothing" football under Slot, which surely isn't what he dreams of at night???
Rectify it. Get someone in who will play entertaining football and has a bit more character so as the fanbase can enter that cohesive, unified relationship once more. Inject some life, round off the corners in the squad and we will see things pick up. Klopp would be the dream, Alonso is the right age profile for attempting to Dynasty-build (if he's good enough) but I would make the change in the hot-seat and see how we get on before I would rip up the Trifecta and have to reset AGAIN - think it could do more harm than good if we get it wrong.
