Dear dear me, both Ireland and Wales lead their respective penalty shootouts then missed their last two penalties. Both Ireland and Wales join Northern Ireland in exiting the World Cup
Brennan Johnson and Neco Williams missed for Wales.

Bollix - all 3 home nations fail to go through
Nice assist by Olise to Ekitike v Brazil, start of a beautiful relationship??
The last time the ball hit the back of the net for Ireland in the World Cup was with their fifth penalty in a 3-2 penalty shootout loss against Spain after it being 1-1 after extra-time.
Said penalty was scored by Steve Finnan. The year was 2002.
It's been a long wait for Ireland fans.
Unfortunately for Northern Ireland both Bradley and Ballard missed the game. They could still be playing and still won't have scored as we've no quality goalscorers in the team . As for Italy they haven't a chance of winning the world cup.
Worst Italy side I think I have ever seen. What happened to their football? It's never really recovered from the scandals. Probably part of why the Premier league fights so hard to keep anything of this nature off the front page.

There was a good artical on the BBC about this very subject, and 'surprisingly', yes it's down to money.

Dont think there's any Italian sides in the top 10 richest clubs.
