Yep - and in the same situation again were we to go back to that point in time - looking at both squads I would again say Arsenal are more likely than us to win it - because they were a better and deeper squad imo. Huge raft of injuries to key players totally derailed their season - but far less so than ours this season.

You see Henry’s GIMP….it’s so easy to simply say what you see. For instance I would say our best squad was that of 2019 - that took 97 points. Stronger than the one that took 99 points and the title.

But also as a liverpool fan I can accept when it is not the best squad in town and last season we certainly were not. Not even the second best. We took 84 points and I believe we massively over achieved - went under the radar, no expectation… suffered almost zero injuries to key players and a squad showing their rock solid mentality and making good on their promise to Klopp. Getting the reward that Klopp 2.0 was more than deserving of. But Arsenal took more points the season before - a tougher season too - and came second with a weaker squad that the one we beat to the title last season .

So many things in the sport can be true just as in life…

● Plenty of people on the forum use dodgy-boxes or streams. One of the lads in here even providing them to a few other forumites.
● They're stealing money from sly/bt/tnt, LFC would be better off owning its digital broadcast rights and putting their games up on YouTube for free.
● Generally LFC fans seem to be all about affordable access to football. A fair few years back Smithy was moaning about the price of going to a PL game followed by a CL and rightly so. Dicko said the price in 1992 was £5 a ticket.
I said it was mad that matchday tickets rose in costs at the same rate as broadcast revenue boomed. About 900% over 20 years. They should not have been coupled.
● Listening to the Anfield wrap recently a fella was saying similar and that had matchday tickets risen with general inflation as opposed to broadcast revenue, then a PL ticket to a LFC game would be £17 which would make the game more accessible.
● When the ESL was proposed, I said fans should have used that manoeuvre to get ticket prices down. Let the clubs cream in digital revenue from the expanding global interest, and reduce matchday tickets. The ESL format looked much better than the new CL format.
● So I am all for making sport freeview and reducing ticket prices, which seems to align with what most fans want from the game.

Now thats just one point addressed. It seems not only do you have G.Nev takes on football, you seem incredibly proud to pay for them and line the pockets of those who keep sport behind a pay wall.

How much is EACH of those broadcasters charging? I calculated that if someone paid these broadcasters so they could watch their club play every game during a season, they would be paying out over £40 every month. Just under £400 for the season.

Yep - you’ve hit the nail on the head regarding the sheer cost of being a fan today. But if we look at the history - it’s fair to say the Premier League was effectively ruined by these TV revenue streams from day one…which started with the birth of the PL and the cynical floating of clubs like United and Spurs on the stock exchange … a move that pretty much signaled the end of football as a community asset.

This setup today is the American model - a system designed to treat fans as "customers" rather than genuine supporters. That is exactly why American owners are here today … they ain’t here for the love of the game - but to prey upon the massive revenues generated by the institutions we call football clubs. The broadcasters aren't just taking the piss - they are the engine room for the corporate machine that turned the "People’s Game" into a closed-shop asset class.

LFC would make more money from showing its own games on YouTube for free, than it does from the tv broadcast deals.

Of course many smaller clubs in the league benefit from the TV deal.
