    Who is that manager?

    A certain Mr Jürgen Klopp.

Been Stuttgart manager since March or April of 2023, pretty good win percentage at 55% over a good span of games (140-160 odd by now) with them, though undeniably fans may be concerned about his time at Hoffenheim, which is a tricky one as they aren't one of the more elite sides you wouldn't necessarily "expect" them to have a massive win percentage.

Very vertical passing style for his teams - counter-attacks, Klopp-lite if you will. You'll see a 4-2-3-1 a lot but it's a bit asymmetrical, with play tending to be biased towards the left flank. A semi-worthwhile comparison in terms of biasing play to the left flank would be that of Fernando Diniz who did some fascinating stuff with Fluminese - highly experimental - the sort of stuff you definitely want to watch to see something "different" but might feel hesitant about watching if it's your own team due to the high risk aspect.

His Hoffenheim team had Kramaric in it I remember - he had a serious hot streak at one point and I was keen on him as a low-risk punt for squad depth, ended up at Leicester for a bit.

The 4-2-3-1 can transition into a 3-5-2 at times, counter-pressing and (interesting to me given we have Isak and Ekitike) quite into crossing the ball from wide areas, a bit 90s throwback in terms of deliveries that are encouraged, so we may see lads get chalk on their boots rather than cut inside like Gakpo and Salah.

That is if he were to arrive of course.
I see, he sounds fine enough. I hope hes got passion,, that's what we need as well as good coaching ability and tactical nous
Jurgen had that in abundance..You don't have to be a ranter and raver. But up at em at times..will stop our stupid over passing and get some end product, and get to balls first when defending.we sit off challenges all to often

We’ve apparently been talking to Sebastian Hoeness at Stuttgart. He saved them from relegation then took them to second behind Bayern. He then dropped down to 8th or 9th but won the Cup. This year 4th.

While all appointments are a risk, Hoeness has little Champions League experience, not really dealt with top level players in any number.
If you want up and coming, at least Iraola has had good success in the Premier League, getting little Bournemouth on the verge of Champions League qualification playing very good football while the club sell his best players.

Yes and 100% yes. I'd love them to say here's a 3 year contract.. and here's all the money you need.. He can then retire for good.
But with Hughes and Edwards, theres no chance of that.. And i doubt Jurgen would come back anyway.. It's a 24 hour job. physically and mentally. hes done 9 years with us

I touched on him a bit above.

I like him and I like what I have seen of his sides, but he's the sort of Manager I'd ideally want to see do 2-4 years at Brighton/Bournemouth/Brentford or Villa if they hadn't got Emery in, before getting the reigns here.

Nobody will compare to Klopp, but with Seb it could be an incredibly fine line between him being regarded (in hindsight, after his hypothetical time here) as having had a Benitez-level tenure, or a Rodgers-level tenure.

I think he'll have an excellent career, but Liverpool may feel like one job too early. Though right now I don't think a lot of our fanbase would mind if we weren't a title-winning side again immediately if we could at least enjoy watching the games and appreciating performances again.

I’m just really buoyed by the thought of Slot going and whoever comes in, just cannot do any worse in reshaping the squad than Slot has.

I can totally relate to that feeling miller, big time.

I just want to start next season with something a little bit closer to "Liverpool" football and see some decent performances. The soil looks to be blackened and burnt just now and I'd kill for some green shoots.

The Hoeness links have come via Dave Davis at Anfield Index.

Agree with Miller on his point about being optimistic about Slot going but to be honest Hoeness sounds like a Slot appointment. An unknown who's likely be happy to work under whatever conditions he's set.
Hope his teams have had some athleticism and guile. As much as I'm disappointed Alonso is going to Chelsea I'm not that disappointed we aren't getting him as I'm not wholly convinced he'd be what we require.
I'd actually really like to see Hurzeler get the job. He's got BhA into a great unit with energy, they play cracking football and are tough to beat. He's also not afraid to say what he thinks like when he called out Arsenal for the shithouses they are earlier in the season. Probably why he wouldn't be approached. Lolz etc.

Slot going is great news if true. I'd be more comfortable with Iraola as his replacement instead of this Hoeness fella
