He leaves a legend for me, having won the titles he's won.

In terms of his legacy, leaving for a free puts him in a list of McManaman/Owen.

As a footballer, I declared him world class early on
I saw him improve and decline thereafter. He's not performing to his wage demands as I see it so, he'll need replacing but not overly upset at his departure in a football sense.

For me VVD was the key man to sign up, Mo's a bonus.

Trent had he stayed, it would have made for less transfer deals to do this summer, but again he's not producing for his wage demands.

Good luck lad, but get fucked all the same

Owens legacy imo wasn't tarnished on the way he left the club, as I recall Benitez gave him an ultimatum to extend or be sold and as he was in his last yr of his deal we got £8.5M for him plus the squad player Nunez from RM. Not to say he wouldn't have run it down and done a Trent though.

To be brutally honest, Trent going doesn’t bother me one iota, he may have been able to make a couple of incredible passes in a game but he was bloody awful at times at defending. Whether it was being constantly out of position or winning “the most dribbled past defender in Europe’s top five leagues” trophy year after year or a typical lazy square pass to an opponent in his own half, like yesterday, he was a frustrating player for many.

Just annoyed at the club for letting his contract run out more than anything.
If Bradley matures into a stronger physical frame to stay fit, he will be an excellent replacement.

So yeah, bye Trent, whatevs la.

Its obvious hes been leaving for 2 seasons.. The club appeased him last season by making him vice captain. Klopp also appeased him by allowing him to play inside at times.. Thankfully Slot said no to that and hes been playing at right back since..
apart from yesterday when he was somehow central and up the pitch leaving the right back area empty.
No doubt hes been world class at times for us.. But he has always worried me defensively.. Hopefully Bradley and a new recruit can help us with that issue.

Aye. You'd have been fine with the club forcing him out 2 years ago. You were wetting yourself at the thought of VVD and Salah leaving. The crap posted here is unbelievable.

Trent ran his contract down so that he could go to Madrid on a free. They were not going to pay a transfer fee for him. That was his choice. Great player and he will be missed but he took a dump on the club on the way out.

Better players then TAA have come and gone. We've survived them all and in some cases have gone on to achieve bigger and better things. Like a few others I'm more annoyed about him leaving on a free after he'd previously said that he loves the club. Mac Allister signed a deal with Brighton to make sure that they got some money for him when he was sold. If TAA truly loved the club he would have done the same.

I've always been of the opinion that unless he is providing a fair few assists and a few goals, he can be and has been more of a liability than an asset on the pitch. He has increasingly had the appearance of a 'Billy big balls' which is one of a number of reasons why I'm a bit "meh" about the non financial repercussions of him leaving.
