    The Midfield

Deserving of it’s own thread interested to hear everyone’s views on the No6 double pivot and single pivot

Grav was excellent at No6 last season but that was in a midfield 3 and before anyone pipes up I watched an hour long feature yesterday with Owen Hargreaves interviewing Grav about it, loads of footage involved clearly showing the 3

It hasn’t worked as a double pivot for me and it’s a huge part of why we’ve been so poor in the press counter press and picking up

Macca seems to have been our main ball winner and interceptor

Interest to know everyone’s options and preferences I’d prefer 433 with a false 9 it works in this league and was hugely successful for 10 years for us and I didn’t see any reason to change that

Not keen in 4 2 3 1 and klopp pointed out it asks a lot of the two 6s,that said there are clubs that make it work.macallister is to slow to be a 6 and i would go with gravenberch and dom.
The issue next season will be getting our best players on the pitch, new DM,salah replacement, isak, wirtz, ekitikie, szobo and that means making the 4 2 3 1 work.
Imo we might have to sacrifice one of jones or mac to fund/fit a new DM.
Who would people move on jones or macallister?

Macca has been world class and we'd all hope he can get back up there, Jones has never reached that level despite putting in infrequent very good performances. The level Liverpool should be aspiring too would see Jones as a squad player. If we can't afford both I'd sell Jones

    Thats one for jones.
Might come down to who we can get more money for,mac imo not suited to being one of the 6s and if 4 3 3 not being a option he might get frozen out.

Not going to work with 2 No9’s got to be 433 hopefully Slit’s gone he needs to start working on Ekitike playing inside LFWD & false 9 too

The midfield I want a 3 it’s already showed Wirtz can’t play as a third forward so we have to go with a 3 and him roaming from LCM as Countinho did for me

Make it like two 8’s/10’s ahead of Grav - Wirtz left Szobo right
