  • Players who come along and remind you of past players …

During last season I was watching Palmer of Chelsea and it was bugging me that his demeanour, movement and laconic style reminded me of someone, but I couldn ‘t quite put my finger on it who he actually reminded me of…and then it cane to me “ Liam Brady of Arsenal / Juventus. “

Similarly, watching Bradley I find myself seeing lot’s of similarities with Gerrard, his running style, his all action approach and his eye for a tackle and pass, all are imho very similar to Gerrard early years, and before anybody explodes, I am not saying he is or will ever be as good as Gerrard, only time will tell on that front, but imho he is very similar in so many ways… and so I can see a World were he eventually transitions into a brilliant midfield player..just saying.

Finally, like every body else, I have watched every available “You Tube” clip of Florian Wirtz thats out there and once againI have to say he reminded me of someone..and suddenly a name did spring to mind..

Kenny Dalglish, his build, his lack of blistering pace, his unbelievable ball control in confined spaces, his vision to see and complete precision passes, his ability to deliver the right ass at the right time and his calmness in front of goal and score Worldie’s, and he also has a bit of a fiery attitude if needs be…

Listen, once again I am not saying he is, or will ever be as good as Dalglish, but if he is half as good, fuck me what a player he could be for us… just saying…again.

    Happy days…

On your Wirtz comment, I see something "Baggio-esque" though they aren't of course exactly the same.

For a man who complains about "trolls" often enough........

        But I'll bite.

        - Incredibly good close control is a Baggio-esque trait.
        - Excellent dribbling skills, a Baggio-esque trait.
        - Navigation of tight spaces - a Baggio-esque trait
        - Wonderful playmaking ability - a Baggio-esque trait.
        - An aura that invokes "feelings of football" that you get with lads like Maradona, Messi, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Pirlo, Suarez - a Baggio-esque trait.
        - Individual brilliance - a Baggio-esque trait.
        - Chance creation through incisive passing - a Baggio-esque trait.
        - A Trequartista - a Baggio-esque trait.

All whilst not having quite the same profile, silhouette and with Wirtz not having quite the same looks-off-balance-but-somehow-upright or "jinky" look that lads like Baggio and particularly Ronaldinho possessed, hence "not the same" in my comment.

Wirtz reminds me of Bobby Firmino actually.
Gazza used to remind me of Puskas.

Wirtz looks like a Beardsley / Coutinho hybrid to me.

He does - and what a player that would be…. tho he wouldn’t thank you for that initial comparison - aesthetically speaking… On the Peter Beardsley aesthetic to be specific.

Switched off when I saw bradley reminding you of gerrard he's not similar at all, he's not a midfielder for starters
