  • Can our current squad be considered one of, if not the strongest in the PL

Looking at our new signings this year and the emergence of our young talents from within, is it fanciful to say that Liverpool now have one of, if not the strongest squad in the Premiership, especially if we do manage to actually pull off the signing of both AI and MG…

However, after watching the second game friendly game yesterday, as good as Gakpo can be, I do think there is an argument that in the 10 games home and away against the other Top 5 teams in the Premier League and especially in Europe, that Gakpo be considered more effective as an impact sub…rather than an actual starter.

Dont get me wrong, Gakpo is a great player, but he can be a bit predictable at times and against better opposition I don’t think he will be as effective as some of the other options we have within the squad…

It is going to be really interesting going forward to see how Arne Slot uses this squad, personally again after watching Szobo’s impressive performance yesterday, and like I have mentioned previously, i think there is a strong argument that with his pace, energy, power, and dynamism are we going to be better served to actually switch the roles of both Macca and Szobo…

If Arne did try this I do think it would be a really mouth watering prospect watching Szobo and Gravenberch supporting a flexible fluid combination of Macca - Wirtz - and Salah all playing behind either Hugo …or lets dream Isak…

If you then add in the running power of Kerkez, Bradley and Frimpong…bombing forward as and when required, to enhance our significant attacking options still further… it could end up being absolutely mind blowing to watch…

However, one thing is for sure, it’s going to be really exciting to see what sort of tune Arne can get out of this refreshed squad…

Yeah I'm a bit worried about the left side, and CB areas

can't see us getting Isak LW and CB

best starting 11, depth not so sure we are short this is before nunez leaves

Surely we wait until the window closes for this conversation BPF. If no one else comes in, it’s nowhere near.

if we spend 150m and god knows his wages on isak- do we have room for a few more ? surely we will get a CB Ekitike will play on left perhaps, and chiesa/frimpong covers salah on the right assuming chiesa will leave though, but does doak stay?

Let's hope we haven't adjusted the squad or first eleven too much.
Last season's squad wasn't too weak, we just needed one or two additions imo.
There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief

We are a virgil or konate long term injury from being in trouble, so no.

                Let them win something first

With all due respect, whilst the window still has several weeks to run, I think we can comfortably say that Liverpool have already probably conducted 85-90% of their Transfer business this window, and yes we may strengthen still further with the potential purchase of another striker and CB, yes we may sell one or two players, but tbf they will all be what Arne considers to be fringe players… saying that I understood but was surprised to lose Diaz after the season he had last season

Lets be honest were the best side by a street last season, and in this window I think we have significantly addressed all the areas of the squad that we were all concerned about before this window commenced and so overall, I do think we have significantly raised the quality of the squad, despite tragically losing Jota, and the loss of Trent and Diaz..

With regards other teams in the Premiership, I cannot see too many of them, between now and the end of the window being able to make up the clear gap to Liverpools present squad..

                  Hey ho, opinions eh…

We need 2 CBs and have lost depth in the left forward position so no.

Nunez looks to on the way also, so right now our squad is looking too deep in some positions. But as to hers have said, we need to assess this once the window closes.

With nunez in the way out, I think the minimum we need is a cf and a cb. I'd like 2 cb (1 young and for the futur) but don't see that happening.

Surely we're not counting on Chiesa to stay fit ??

but yeah we'll see what happens, I hope we've not sold nunez, Diaz, and elliot (most likely)

just to bring isak in, and call it a day we're looking rather short in numbers, at some point soon sadly we can't expect salah and VVD to play every game, i'm happy with the transfers but I'd be a lot more confident if konate didn't keep picking up little injurys and VVD&Salah was younger.. and chiesa actually played and stayed fit.

Rather bring in Barcola (who can play LW or down the middle) + a solid CB.. if the only other option is isak and that's it done.

It's all good having a top first team, but we need depth too, especially how many games we have to play these days, not to mention the fringe/youth getting sold so lower on numbers, not just diaz,Jota,Nunez,Quansah,Elliot etc.

Yes we have the 16 year old that looks good, and Doak but in the long-run if they have to play a lot, we're not going to win anything, I'm not saying they're shit but it's a different level, especially in the champions league, same if endo or robertson has to play at CB, against top teams they'll get found out.

                        We've lost

                        Jota (RIP)
                        Nunez
                        Diaz

3 of the 6 attackers, they all contributed and played often enough, we've signed Ekitike, and Chiesa hardly played (Still not sure what's going on with him either)

So really we've got 3 players that can play across the front (Not counting chiesa after last season, btw I think diaz is better than gakpo but heyho) , and others fill in like Wirtz even then we're missing out because his best role is AMC and frimpong on the RW but he's not a inside forward and let's see if bradley stays fit- Without isak yet, that front line is not better in quality or depth in my opinion.

Places we look short currently in, also the backup is very injury prone Gomez/Chiesa..

Interesting times, but if it goes how I think it'll go, I hope we get knocked out the fa cup & league cup early and have a good injury-free season (apart from the usual suspects, more chance of me winning the lottery) Midfield (Even though in future could do with a boss 6 still) and goalie positions fine so is LB/RB.. CB/forward line, nope.
