We have lost 9 games in the league this season.
Wirtz played in 7 of them.
In 25 games he has played in we have dropped points in 13...More than half... We have won less than half - just 12 games which includes his 13 minutes v Villa..
Of the last 3 games he has missed we have won 2 - we were shyte - but we won them. To use the loss last night as marker to suggest we are missing Wirtz would be - statistically speaking - ridiculous.
The truth however is different. The eye test will tell you more than any stats. We do miss him...and without question...and especially NOW... BUT how much of that is actually due to his impact as a player and how much of that is due to the fact we have destroyed what we did have and set up totally to rely on him - is a difficult one to answer.

Trying to apply team stats to an individual is folly. There are all sorts of weird coincidences, like we never lost a league game at Anfield when Shaqiri played. Was that all down to him?
You are right that the eye test tells you all you need to know. We are badly missing Wirtz. For one thing he's the only attacker capable of linking with Ekitike. Salah, Macca and Gakpo are just passengers at this point. That's not tactical. It's players not doing enough.

Big decision in selection for Slot tonight as the team has been adjusting to playing more successfully as thry did before Wirtz in his absence and Gakpo and Mo have both been in the goals
Wirtz is just back from injury it will be interesting to see who starts"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

Buying him and making him the jewel in the crown and playing through the centre with 2 No9’s with Wirtz the playmaker supreme was Slit’s Kane backs with 480m that saw Jurgen’s blueprint for success torn upOriginally posted by ianlfc View PostShite again. Have we been shafted ?
Everyone involved in sanctioning that should no longer be at the club, I said this at the end of October, we could still be in the race had we insisted on Jurgen’s blueprint to be continued with and recruited for it and brought in a manager to get back to it at the end of October
I said then the longer he was allowed to continue the more he would break down everything he inherited"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”
