Tend to agree. His goals and assist per minute this season aren't too bad. On a par with Eze, Rogers, Sobozla and Palmer (excluding 5 penalties all comps)Originally posted by jozza800 View PostHe's one of the few players who plays forwards. He's all one and two touches, watch how many touches Dom, Mac or Grav make before playing a pass.
Watch how many touches the forwards need to get everything under control. Gakpo was shocking.
Wirtz made a lovely little move and a nicely weighted pass for Ekitike in Paris only for Ekitike to fall over his own feet.
He faded (as did everyone else) in the 2nd half, but he'll get fitter and stronger and will better for having this season.
There are going to be an awful lot of people backtracking at some point in the future...
In an obviously shit season this young kid has stood relatively strong, in a new league too.
VVD, Salah & MacA... what a difference from last season.

I think you’re all mad. Did so little again today against a good team.
Looked great in Germany as he did in a friendly with Switzerland but he hasn’t done once against a good team.
We need better and we don’t need to keep chopping and changing formation to try and find a position for him."I am the Normal One."

Slot probably plays Szoboslai at right back because hes the hardest working member of the team and Salah's work rate this season has been nonexistent
Can't blame Slot for Gomez getting injury 207666, we had no one to cover right back.so was the only player who can play that role . Its been bizarre when we've had players fit at right back and Slot still chose Dom though.Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

Wirtz seems to me to be no different from a host of other players who have moved between the Prem and the Bundeslige. Ones that go out do well (Diaz, Kane, Sancho, Bellingham); ones that come here don't (Werner, Sancho, Nkunku, Simons, Sesko etc and now Wirtz. Haaland and Hugo are the obvious exception and Frimpong, who can't hack the pace despite his obvious quality and gets injured. Perhaps we should leave the Northern European leagues alone in our future transfers. Too little opportunity to show the skill level required at the pace required, and with the strength and stamina required.
Wirtz has had a season to acclimatise. It took Hugo about 3 games. We can't build a team around maybe. Send him to Bayern and use the cash to set up a proper midfield around a replacement and Dom who we NEED to secure NOW.
