Wirtz has put on a lot of muscle that will take him time to get used to. Dont forget szobozzlai had a pretty indifferent second half to his first season as well so would be prepared to give him a proper run at a second sesson

Yes. I think we can judge him better after next season. To me he's shown glimpses of real quality. He can be very frustrating though as he does something clever and positive one minute then passes it straight to the opposition the next. There are mitigating factors too I think. The team as a whole hasn't been functioning and that's been true whether Wirtz is in the team or not. If it was a case of Wirtz being dropped and suddenly the team plays well, then I'd be more inclined to see him as the problem. But that hasn't been the case. We can count on one hand how many players have had an okay season for us: Alisson, VVD, Szobo, Ekitike. The rest have been patchy at best. I like Frimpong but he's had a lot of setbacks. Also Grav is quality but at times has been hit and miss this season. So all of that is a huge caveat for me. If we get a differnet coach next season I wouldn't be surprised to see Wirtz flourish.Originally posted by darrenpotter View PostWirtz has put on a lot of muscle that will take him time to get used to. This season is on slot and wirtz also a issue.
Wirtz good lad and player but we are not suited to playing a number 10,the midfield 2 have struggled all season and gapko and fading salah have also had a poor season under this formation.
Sorry the 4 2 3 1 isnt going to work and should cash in on wirtz.

Goal-or-assist per 181.3 minutes
Eze

Assists 6
Goal-or-assist per 182.1 minutes
Wirtz
Goals 6
Assists 10
Goal-or-assist per 194.3 minutes
Sobozla
Goals 12
Assists 8
Goal-or-assist per 205.3 minutes
1 penalty
Rogers
Goals 10
Assists 7
Goal-or-assist per 217.2 minutes
Palmer
Goals 10
Assists 3
Goal-or-assist per 138.1 minutes

Cherki aside Wirtz compares favourably with other similar players, in his 1st season at LFC where key players have gone to shit in a shit season.

It will but I just cannot see it. If we were going to spend £100m on a player I would want much much more than occasional good passes. He drifts through too many games barely getting a kick and giving the ball away at will when he does.
No way I would turn down a proper offer from Bayern in the summer, on the off chance he may suddenly come good.

By Goals & Assists per minute....Originally posted by Steveo View PostAnyone remember this kind of guff being shown to prove Gakpo was better than Diaz..?

Maybe our very own - H'edwards - are also making decisions from their bedrooms?
I showed Suarez, Rush & Salah are all better attackers than Gakpo & Diaz.
By this metric Gakpo was ahead of Diaz.
You proposed that win ratio was more important than Goals and assists per minute....
This leads to Diaz being a better attacker than Gakpo, and Rush, Suarez & Salah.
Think those inferences show my metric is the better metric in judging an attackers quality.
Your argument and metric suggests Diaz is a better attacker than Gakpo, Suarez, Salah & Rush.
My method shows Suarez, Salah & Rush are better attackers than both Gakpo & Diaz.
Yet you laugh at my proposal

1st season at a new club.Originally posted by RedMagic View PostSo long as he's playing well for Germany Wirtz's value won't drop by much if at all. With that being case it might be worth at least giving him a bit more time under a new manager to see what he's capable of.
1st season in a new league.
A shocking season for LFC.
Goals or Assists per minute on par with those already used to the league.
And hes shown more mental strength in his 1st season than many of the senior leaders in our squad.

What is this absolute nonsense about 'my method' vs 'your method'? This isn't a lab experiment - it’s football.
You’re hiding behind contrived metrics because they’re the only way to support your bizarre Gakpo agenda. To suggest that a team win ratio I made about the same players in the same team - makes Luis Díaz a 'better attacker' than Suárez, Salah, or Rush is genuinely embarrassing. It’s the hallmark of someone who spends more time looking at columns on a screen than actually watching the game.
Only someone who has never set foot in Anfield would try to compare win ratios across different eras. Comparing a Rodgers side to a Klopp side using that metric is statistically illiterate—one team was a transitional work-in-progress, the other was a refined winning machine.
The 'eye test' isn't just a phrase…it’s how you actually judge an attacker's quality, movement, and individual brilliance. Suárez is streets ahead of everyone on that list, and you don't need a proprietary method to see it.
You’re tying yourself in knots trying to backtrack on your Gakpo claims. Give it a rest and actually watch a match for once.
