Good point on Mo…. It’s highly likely. Sadly though - without his goals and assists we all know - the title is a pipe dream. He needs to re focus now.

Slot HAS to refrain from over using him. Keep his head grounded. Not easy for a young lad like that with that talent. Softly softly

Even before he scored, he was one of the only ones out there (Chiesa being the other) showing some fight and wanting to take more than just a point home, while everyone else was seemingly trying to hang on to a draw and prevent what they thought was an inevitable Newcastle winner.

I love that about him.

And remarked just before he scored that he should have been on earler just for that energy he showed alone.

Maybe it's youthful (blissful) ignorance in not knowing better, but sometimes I feel we need some of that in situations like these.

I'd much rather see him in the lineup next time out - even against Arsenal - than someone like Jones, .....or even Kerkez.

Could maybe try Wirtz out left and have the midfield three we had last year. So Cody would make way I suppose.

I think he works better with Macca playing behind him in Center mid controlling the midfield and himself playing more advanced than whatever it was that Slot was trying today with him and Jones seemingly playing advanced or Wirtz having to fall back.

Either Macca or Szobo, but having Jones on today was just not it, IMO.
It's one or the other (Wirtz or Jones) if you want to play that formation, but not both.

There was also an issue with Grav himself being a bit off-colour (formwise) from how he normally is.

But yeah, the long balls from defense or from Allisson to the frontline trying to bypass that nonexistent midfield, was a problem from the get-go.

And for both.
He did well at RB as a steady presence and was vital when a couple of mishaps occurred elsewhere, and for the goal he had the awareness to know that Rio was behind him with a clearer sight of the the goal and no one to challenge his shot.
