No doubt Jota's death hit Salah hard and on top of that he was called out over Palestine this summer which left a bad taste. It may not seem much to us but it puts him in a tricky political situation and he may want to finish his playing days in Saudi.

Salah as always got caught giving away the ball up the pitch.. Its not a new thing.. He maybe trying to many fancy passes these days and more often.. But hes still gonna score more than most and thats all that counts.. Hes produced unbelievable numbers for an inside attacker..Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

Hmmm. Gonna be a tough call for Slot. Can't see it happening in the next game but you'd think if Mo doesn't do much in the say the next 3-5 games he's probably going to find himself on the bench.Originally posted by Insidious View PostI don't think we drop a £400k-per-week player with his goals and assists record.
What we might do is mix our formation/line-up up a bit when he is at AFCON and then it maybe takes a couple of games for him to work back in purely because the side is doing so well - hypothetical of course.
The only other way I could see dropping Mo being remotely considered is towards the end of the season if we had an agreement for a sale to Saudi or something, to accelerate our adjustment to a post-Mo Liverpool a year early. However I honestly think he sees out his contract. From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down, I convulsed with laughter. Someday I intend on reading it. Groucho Marx

Said that to a mate when he signed his 2 year deal and can see it happening.Originally posted by Insidious View PostThe only other way I could see dropping Mo being remotely considered is towards the end of the season if we had an agreement for a sale to Saudi or something, to accelerate our adjustment to a post-Mo Liverpool a year early. Play another season then a transfer with a token fee to a Saudi club in the summer.

It'll be fascinating to see who the right-winger or right-sided forward is that comes in to take his place.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostWhen he signed a two year deal I thought he’d probably end up going to Saudi after a year for around £100m.
Plenty to bring in a potential replacement
As to "replacing" him as we fans tend to think of it, I don't think anyone who comes will be his, so-to-speak. Players like him cutting in from the right side and contributing so many goals/assists are absolute Unicorns.
Under FSG we have "replaced" players ahead of time, though not always effectively. Ox and Keita came to replace midfielders before they departed (which didn't work) and Núñez came in ahead of Firmino's exit.
With that in mind, I think Isak is the "replacement", essentially. We aren't replacing like-for-like (different positions) but we are getting an elite goalscorer in, prior to the departure of an elite goalscorer. Which makes a lot of sense.
So excited about our future. It's been an excellent bit of future-proofing this Summer with Leoni, Wirtz, Ekitike, Isak, Mamardashvili, Kerkez, Frimpong.....the average age of the squad and starting XI has dropped considerably. A shame about Guehi but brilliant work overall, just brilliant.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool

Yeah that aspect of our play is so, so exciting. As much as I loved the 08/09 side it feels very nice to have a multitude of attacking options, rather than feeling we were a bit snookered if Torres missed games.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostWe’ll never have a RWF who will get anywhere near Mo’s numbers but we will bring in a very good RWF and spread the goals around more. I don't think even the Saudi clubs would be dropping £100m on a 34 year old. I think that boat has well and truely sailed.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostWhen he signed a two year deal I thought he’d probably end up going to Saudi after a year for around £100m.

Mo is one of those rare footballers who has huge commercial appeal.Originally posted by jozza800 View PostI don't think even the Saudi clubs would be dropping £100m on a 34 year old. I think that boat has well and truely sailed.
He'd be worth £100 million to them next summer, or the one after.
