Agree but our passing was sloppy. Alison is kicking long when he doesn't need to resulting in us losing possession.
There's sometimes I think we are trying to walk it in.
On the plus side that first half hour was blistering and shows what we are capable of. Kerkez has improved today I thought, had a good game.
The starting 11 is probably our best aside from Bradley ( who really needs to be more composed) and Gakpo who at the moment truth be told us like fifth wheel.

    • Ekitike is a young lad, in a different league and new country to settle in to and he really has hit the ground running. Class player.

Where is Wirtz going to play exactly…? Is it a cunning plan by Slot? Is he playing poker and deliberately making it look like we cannot accommodate him to them silent spring a master stroke..?

        thoughts ?
I know we were all thrilled to sign him but in the cold light of day we didn't need him. A DM would have been a much better option as Grav has down up to now how effective he can be further forward.
I hope he comes good but he's struggling with the pace I think, wants far too long on the ball.

Agree. I've been very surprised at how good he looks. He will score 20 league goals no bother.

Yes - that’s absolutely true - possibly due the fact we never had genuine control in midweek - lost a 2 goal lead. BUT it’s September tho - and the subs made us look even less composed. .

If we’re struggling for energy - with a squad our size - at this stage after a home game in the CL I would be concerned. The mental drain of pretty much every game we have played this season will take a toll unless it is checked.

Yeah, I did based on him outscoring Mo Salah per minute from open play last season all comps.

Salah will win pots, I'd say Gakpo has actually had a better season.
And our LFConline ratings had Slot with the best ratings last year
Then Virgil & Mo tied for first, then MacA, then Grav and finally Gakpo to make up our top5 players last season per lfc online.

The last post on that thread a real cracker from Ian.

              5/10. It was Jurgen's squad 🤣🤣

              • We've had a better start to this season than last season.

Yep and apologies for the double dutch - can’t find my reading glasses and when predictive screws me over I fail to spot it.

                  • Yep.
Think we’re short of a CB, a 6 and a LWF to be able to properly rotate and keep them fresh.

We really missed having Diaz as an option today, he would have been a perfect out ball in that second half

                    • A very frustrating match despite the win. All teams know now (if they didn't before) that going 2 behind isn't a problem, whereas they should feel that going one behind (especially at Anfield) is an insurmountable mountain. We will continually have to put 90+ mins of hard yards in every match, because teams will continue to push.
Even though they didn't equalise, we have done ourselves no favours at all today.

                      • You did say it was a squad that couldn't compete with Artetas arsenal and blamed FSG for the squad handed over to Slot.... you even said the squad made Klopp walk early and predicted an utter collapse in the post Klopp era when the low quality of the players in the squad would be seen by all.
Until we won the league and you said it was Klopps squad.

Yep - and it was 100% Jurgens squad. Literally.. Unless you want to claim Chies’s minutes made the difference

It is a squad that never matched Arteta’s haul - and Arteta inherited muck… and that’s despite Arteta being 3 divisions below Jurgen. How do you explain that? Please make an attempt..

The fact that Slot walked in and inherited a side that had been in a quad chase and remained until late in title race - despite unprecedented injuries the season prior - is another issue. Slot did great but he did it with Klopp’s players. He fielded the best of those players religiously and suffer d almost no serious injury. And we made 2 more points.

Even you should be able to see it. It’s called reality.

You seem to be triggered by your own ridiculous comments on last season & Gakpo vs Mo …while ignoring the key facts about squads - depth. - managers ability to get more from less and those who have managed to get less from more.

This is you. If we have scraped wins with last gasp moments in your world it’s all part of the design. The result proves the point.. In your world.. Plenty more of us know it’s something else entirely and far more to do with the mentality of the players and their bond with the fans.

Not that I expect you to be able to comprehend any of it.
