Lets see what happens with Palace..they are struggling to score goals . 5 in 5 i think they have. they tend to be defensive and play on the counter.. Sarr is missing for them... If we keep the ball well. we should have a chance.
We may struggle to break them down. But they will struggle to create chances against us..
We have our trusted starting 11 back on Saturday.. Dom Grav Macca and Wirzt are much better than Endo Gomez and Nynoi (whos only young with promise)
People seem to forget the starting 11 this evening.. and we still won.. so games arent easy to win. WE HAVE WON THOUGH..

It’s a win but XG bested by the Saints. We won and that’s good but there’s a huge similarity between this season and the last title defence. Let’s hope we aren’t calling the title again at Christmas…while winning games we are barely worthy of drawing, Because it catches up with you. Leoni was a young potential cover… Not a senior. We lowballed Guehi and it already looked daft - now it has Slot looking po faced.

Wasnt our title defence the season there was no fans at all in any grounds?? the season we won it.. we were 21 points clear when the league was suspended. the next season it was empty grounds all the way. or maybe there was fans near the end of that season i forget

I agree / it doesn’t ever trump a result or even close - but when calling a win at home to a team like the Saints… suggesting it was by design - I suggest it was as much due to the Saints not being able to finish a hot dinner, For if they could - they surely at the very least rake that to pens. ?

We were well bellow full strength - no argument. And thank god, We cannot afford to risk any key players frankly. We have won games by the skin of our teeth. Won all 8 - on the seat of our pants.

Looking at the league title race.. Man city and Arsenal still have issues themselves. I look at Arsenal and think their midfield will be an issue.. Zubmendi Rice and Odegard looks too similar . I think they'll miss Partey and his strength in there.. Man-city have defensive issues.. and do not control games anymore.
our first 14 players are best in the league if you ask me.. and we have some excellent back up players as well..

Disappointed with Gomez. When he gave the ball away for the chance where Saints hit the bar then missed an open goal, he just stood there watching. Didn’t even attempt to chase back.

This is an excellent post and I agree with most of it - Not sure Arsenal are stronger than they were 2 seasons back - and City are defo struggling….the last bit remains to be seen. Our squad has finally had the money Klopp should have had spent on it - and hopefully what we are seeing now is simply the complexity of integrating many new players into a system. Klopp had to wait an age to upgrade his midfield and that happened sweepingly in one go too - integrating 4, imo hampering his last season. My concern this season longer term is simply the defence and the needless vulnerability we will carry. Any injury to either senior CB and we have a huge problem.

Yep - on Gomez, to be fair he has had so few minutes across a huge time period, then thrown into a disjointed side carrying 3 teenagers, one making a debut at 18 from CB. I imagine Gomez with the next of the first 11 sat beside Virgil, and you see a very different player.
