  • Giovanni Leoni reportedly sustained a torn ACL during his debut against Southampton, with the defender now expected to miss the rest of the season.

The 18-year-old was quick to catch the eye in his first appearance for Liverpool on Tuesday, but his night was cut short after an awkward collision on the touchline.

His discomfort was immediately obvious, and Fabrizio Romano, who will have close contact with the player’s representatives, has now reported that the Italian has torn his ACL, which has a typical recovery timeline of nine to 12 months.

Looks like we'll have to buy a CB in january surely ? Hopefully we can survive till then...... endo and robbo will probably get minutes at CB

Such a shame someone that looks like he could be world class injured now for 12 months.... that's 12 months development time at 18, and about 4 months getting back to fitness.

    • We should be on to palace now with a Guehi fee offer which becomes valid on 1st day of the winter window. Whether that's 10 or 20 million.

      • Fuck sake.

The only positive I can come up with is that a torn ACL isn't the 'career ender' it used to be.

        • Was always an ACL , if a player goes off with gas and air in a knee brace , 90 percwmt of the time , ruptured ACl or PCL,
Absolutely gutted for him he looked really good , the guehi deal was gutting on the last day , and now it’s even more so, 1st day in Jan go and get him from palace , pay whatever . Word them up now that your putting a bid in so have a replacement lined up

It’s not mate , but it’s a horrible injury to get . And at 18 . 8months solid rehab and then a good 4-5 months getting confident in it again

Chiesa playing like he did last night would be a big plus for us on that left side.
I'm a big fan of Gakpo but he's looked way off since the start of the season. Surely Chiesa should be getting a bit more of a go.

I'm an advocate of that it's your shirt until it isn't (within reason...)!

Trust me, I know! I tore my ACL when I was 15 that was 30 years ago and i've not played at all for about 25 years.

Being young and a big strong lad will certainly help. Fingers crossed.

The final ended in a draw. It was decided on penalties. That's when a penalty shootout occurs.

                    • Gskpo’s failed to heed my advice and build and improve to the highest possible levels when he had new born baby rush

I did warn if he failed to do this he could drop back to being average and he has, good off the ball positionally to help us defend but he’s doing fuck all with it nor is he looking like doing

                              • "Discipline means I spoke to him. If discipline means a fine, he didn't get one.

"It wasn't very smart what we did, it's what he recognised straight away. He said sorry to his team-mates straight away. He's young, players of all ages make mistakes, that's what he did and we all make mistakes. You are allowed at this club to make mistakes without immediately getting fined or these type of things.

"He's a fantastic human being, if you ask the staff here who the top three warmest people are, he's in every staff member's top three. It wasn't smart, it didn't hurt us on Tuesday. It might hurt us a bit more tomorrow. The positive thing is that Federico Chiesa is showing himself at the moment. It's a chance for him now to play minutes with Hugo not being there."

I love slot more by the day he might not be the fist pumping running down the touchline manager but the guys class, says the right words and you can tell he's a top man.

...And to the post "worried about him slots got a problem about ekitikes ego basically.." Don't think so...
