Can some one explain about pre season training?

Chiesa for instance..... They are saying he never had a proper pre season last year and this year he is showing his full potential. The same will probably apply to Issak.

The amount of money involved, why don't they just take them off for the same period of time as the rest of the team had, and put them through pre season on their own?

It's not like their aren't enough matches to give them minutes? I know they are getting time on the pitch ....but so often like Cheesy they come back better the next season after a full preseason.

Athletes get to peak fitness on their own.....Why is it so different for football?

I would imagine it should be even less of an issue in the modern game due to how the lads look after themselves over the summer.

It's not like the old days where they'd have a summer off, drinking, smoking and partying and then having to go through their paces in some sort of militaristic boot camp to get up to speed when they get back.

Think the talk about Chiesa is largely bollocks. He was great last year per minute, and did well again the other night. He's played well last year and was not seen again. Like Elliott hes just been down Slots pecking order.

As I understand it in the modern era, the most important aspect of preseason is the holiday they get between end of season & preseason. Important they get the rest and lose fitness.
Then it's built back up in preseason and that's to get them back in shape for the new season.

To me eye, we look like we are still doing hard preseason like conditioning at the minute. A bit of a hindrance on performance but beneficial later in the season.

          Imo, yes.

Its always better to get in for preseason, as you'll work on shape, systems, fitness etc...
But they're stretching it beyond belief

Why was rio over Chiesa in champs league squad?

            Squad reg rules??

Unless we expected to sell him ? I mean he was barely given a chance even when fit last season, he'll get more minutes now only because are options are limited.. hope he keeps up his form and proves his worth to slot and stay fit..

Surely the squads not big enough after the sales to not be able to include him?

but thats my point why cant they work on shape, systems, fitness on therir own programme whenever they arrive? what do those sports science guys actuaLlly get paid for if it's not for exactly this type of scenario?....... also I've always wondered if forwards...mids and defenders have different conditioning programs?

I've given my tuppence, these questions you're asking seem to be looking for answers to what I've called largely bollocks...

Let's just put it this way....

Chiesa had good per minute stats last season and didn't feature much..
And yet he was cut from the CL squad this year and not last year...
Now you've got word about preseason after a good performance the other night...

They are saying he never had a proper pre season last year and this year he is showing his full potential.
^ sounds like post match bs talk
