Gini left because the club wouldn't pay him the numbers he felt he was worth or the time he felt he was due- wage structure.

Ditto Mane.. as with Diaz his agent got him to spout baloney about a new challenge - but it was the wage structure.. as anyone knows.

And Diaz this summer - again...same reason .. and as mentioned I don't see it happen with Klopp here, I see a compromise on him.

But this summer we effectively lost 3 in one hit. Despite winning the title..!! Which is kinda my point. ..and only one of them was for more money. Also he was on a VERY low wage relative to his impact on the team. We can debate what his actual salary was but even the top end is low.

As for talk about "weirdo". well I think most would find that a bit rich from the likes of you..
Again... Here's Trent going on ....presumably like a "weirdo"

Klopp's bond with his lads wasn't just strong it was the engine room of the whole operation. It went deeper than tactics. He didn't just see them as assets or cogs in the machine - he saw them as family. He was the gaffer who knew whether your dog was sick or your missus was having a baby. That genuine human connection was his secret weapon. He knew that if he invested everything in them personally, they would run through a brick wall for him on the pitch - and for each other.

This meant they could play that mad press at 100mph because he took the pressure off their shoulders. He created the famous "no-blame culture". When a player missed a sitter or gifted a goal, Klopp didn't drop them - he backed them, shielding them from the outside noise. An error was just "information," not a crime. He turned lads that everyone else thought were finished, like Hendo and Lovren, or those still finding their feet, like Trent, into genuine world-beaters. That famous Klopp hug wasn't just a celebration - he was looking them in the eye and saying, "I believe in you, you absolute mentality monster." That belief created the legendary and core that won everything.

This is the bond.. Would take a proper "weirdo" of Liverpool fan to anything weird there at all.

Steveo makes a good point in terms of the humane aspect of managers.
Just a few years back there was Houllier and Rafa. In terms of success Rafa far exceeds GH in most peoples opinions but the likes of Carragher and Gerrard both hold GH in much higher esteem as an actual manager. Rafa probably had the edge in tactics but as a person with that human element to relate to people GH was definitely more influential on them.
I definitely see similar traits in the Klopp/Slot comparisons. Klopp was obviously a one in a million manager but the comparisons are definitely there in certain aspects.

not that I am condoning Diaz - I think he was ungrateful to h club that helped him and his family. But from a selfish Liverpool fan perspective - we need him,

I think his statement on why he moved on, while outwardly positive, perfectly illustrates the art of the transfer PR script—and the careful reasons why the real issues are never mentioned.

Why the Narrative is Always "New Challenge"
The reasons Díaz gave “new challenge" and being attracted to "the project they were building at Bayern" are the safest, most professional pieces of PR. The very absence of "sour grapes" or talk of money confirms the success of his strategy.

Immediate Goodwill is Paramount: Díaz's primary goal is to start his career at Bayern on the best possible footing. By talking up the "project," he instantly validates the ambition of his new club and gives the fans a positive narrative to rally behind. A warm welcome is crucial, and it buys him time if his on-pitch start is slow.

Maintaining a Clean Professional Image: If the true reason was a falling out with a manager or disappointment with Liverpool's strict wage structure (which is almost certainly a core factor), publicly revealing that paints him as a disruptive "problem player." Sticking to the language of "ambition" keeps his reputation immaculate for every club in the future.

His Agent's Calculation: His representatives are focused on future business. Burning bridges with a giant like Liverpool by citing "disappointing wage offers" is bad for their relationship with all major clubs. The narrative of challenging himself, especially coming from a humble background, is relatable and impossible for either set of fans to criticize.

In short, his statement is designed to be unimpeachable while still achieving the desired outcome of a transfer and a massive pay bump. He gave the public the story they are required to hear.
I think he realised his playing time was going to get cut...

If you throw an extra £5m or £10m
at potential transfer targets. You instantly become Man Utd. No thanks...

🤔 Is that why we offered £15 million more to land Virgil in December 2017….

Managers personality's are interesting, however, I dont think you can currently find a player saying similar between Klopp & Slot.

                    Steveo is wrong.
Firstly, thats an amazing dig at Slot as a character. Pulled out of his arse assesment of Slots relationship with players in his squad.
Secondly the part on even if hes Paisley success he won't have the same bond with players as Klopp.
Success builds bonds like nothing else. If Slot wins the league this year, back to back for number 21, or brings home number 7, he'll have no problems bonding with players or adding players
If he does a Paisley.... are you fucking having a laugh... Ripped from Wikipedia

... the first of four managers to have won the European Cup three times.......
Nine years later, he retired as the most successful boss in English football history, having led the Reds to six League Championships, three European Cups, one UEFA Cup and three League Cups....
Win that and bonds are not an issue at all
He's won a league in his 1st year.

Now I am curious as to how steveo makes his case. His measure seems to be selling, or losing players. A natural part of football.

Gini left on a free for bigger wages. His only blunder was banging on about not feeling the love. In terms of finances Gini would have earned more at PSG per week, but had he taken a lesser wage at LFC earlier it might not have mattered as much in the end.

Bobby left on a free for bigger wages., nobody ever bemoans Bobby.
Mane left for 30 odd mill & for bigger wages. Nobody bemoans Mane.
Diaz another Klopp player left for Bayern.
                    Fab & Hendo for Saudi.
Trent for Real Madrid. A local lad which hurt more... he was bemoaned.

These are all Klopps players, and in terms of joining Bayern its hardly keeping up with Klopp bonding/loyalty theory, similar with Real & Saudi.
Like Diaz & Trent missed Klopp so much they signed for Bayern & Real.
                    Pep joined Pep at cituae.
Klopp clearly hasn't said anything major about these moves, but they wouldn't be Klopp choices. Klopp gets a bit from Germany for the red bull job.
Now I dont really care about the above, its part of football. Pep aside Pep, aside. But thats what's been offered up.
The Diaz transfer suited all parties. Bayern get a good player, we get a fee and Diaz gets his contract. Diaz has to be out for himself, and joining Bayern is better than Dortmund. LFC get a fee and renew the side. So its not a dig at Klopp, or Klopp players.

But the idea that Klopp left because of the squad and FSG were to blame for that squad,
would become the Klopp players Slot won the league with, merely picking Klopps best 11 including Grav in a double pivot !!
then the squad had some departures from it, and Trent joining Real & Diaz joining Bayern are signs of a lack of loyalty to Slot, its patchy as fuck. Bayern are Klopps enemy in Germany & Real his enemy in Europe from his LFC job. Trent was gone before Klopp announced his departure.

In terms of Slot, we've seen Wirtz talk about Slots role in landing him, a top talent. Seems Slot has some charisma off camera and perhaps some personality in real life too We've seen most peoples 1st choice CF Isak arrive. I'd have preferred Alvarez.

Klopps tenure is over, the clubs in a great position, and his legacy secure.
Slots tenure has begun with our 20th PL title, that's a legacy in itself. But only 1 season to date. We are top of the league after a few games like last year. This year Slot has more 1st teamers.

There little evidence of LFC not wanting to get deals done. With Guehi, Palace clearly stalled us and shafted him, and he's just going to knuckle down, in a WC year now. See his quotes in the article posted. There's little logic in saying £35 million wasnt enough to replace him. When their targets moved elsewhere on loan deals for small loan fees.

So, given the context that Palace wouldn't sell without his replacement, and the player they wanted moved elsewhere, how would moving earlier and bigger have helped them land their replacement.

We all have ideas of who we'd sign. But there's little evidence other additions prevented us from landing Guehi.
Moving earlier gives them more time to get someone in. Come on, you know that. The deal was effectively done until Glasners said not a chance cos I can't get anyone in.

Moving at the beginning of the window gives em plenty of time to get a replacement. We can argue they still dont get one, but at least they would have had 6 weeks as opposed to 24 hours. In my opinion we left it way too late. Also, this is a player costs between 70 to 80 if he isn't in the last year.

Hopefully we go back in, in January for him.

2 poor results then he loses the fucking Plot

No defending him today, utter shite

Sack hughes to start with, and that new set piece coach.

No plan, what's the tactics? gameplan ? anything ??? or just moments of brilliance or from a cross or what? let everyone run at us?? I don't understand, play the best 2 midfielder we have at the back ?? and Lord jones will save us? followed by The jap messiah ?

That's the most worrying thing, where's us playing football gone, why is it like watching man utd last season with a bit more individual quality ?

Sorry I know he won the title last season, albeit with Klopp’s squad but I cannot for the life of me see what Slot is trying to do.

Allowing Diaz to leave rather than paying him the going rate now looks a huge mistake, Gakpo has been absolutely terrible.

Chiesa’s goal contribution per minutes played is easily the best of any of the forwards but Slot refuses to use him properly… absolutely baffling.

He took off 3 of his starting back four and replaced two of them with our best midfielders, wtf???

Salah wasted attack after attack either giving the ball away or blazing it miles over and yet he brings on Endo rather than replace Salah with Chiesa… again why,??

He’s got an awful lot to sort out and it’s not getting any better.

Definitely a rebuilding phase, we aren’t getting anywhere near the league title this year and if we continue in Europe like we did midweek… then we will be lucky to get through to the knockout stages.

And the squad is still glaringly short in three key positions, I hope he can see it.
