    And (...initially)....lower expectations.
He would be mental to leave Palace right now.. imo.. he may even persuade Guehi to extend his contract

    • I hope Slot learns against teams like Palace.. playing with a false wide player in Wirtz won't work.you need to stretch the play.. Like i said i would have started Gakpo.. may not have won mind. but may have played slightly better.. Wirtz is either a false 9 or nothing... or coming on maybe the only way when the game is spread.. if hes gonna play in a 3,, he needs to stop being weak..

Yeah. Its looking a strange signing right now. Quality player but lightweight and where does he fit? Today he was all over the place. Maybe that was by design but it didn't work.

We missed ekitike who is the form player. Salah was poor. Chiesa needed to start. I think it might have been a different game with those two and gakpo instead of wirtz.

        • In Germany he may have got time to hold the ball for a second then make a pass or a little run, everything has to be instant in the premier league. and the standards of teams over all is way higher.,
I do think he will adjust if hes got the right mind set. and not worry about being clattered. cause better players do often get kicked.. Diaz was often kicked and got on with it. the shot today from him was weak..

          • Missing Diaz again out the left. We have 0 treat at the moment from the wide areas. Mó is gone to shit and the left side isn't working at all.

As for the last goal. Why didn't Kerkez use his right foot and boot it up field. Everyone knew they were using the long throw all day.

Chiesa will be fully within his rights to be pissed off if he doesn't start our next game. We'll never know how today's game would have panned out if Ekitike hadn't got himself sent off. Hopefully he's learnt his lesson and maybe uses it to spur himself on to greater heights.

Our balance is currently off all across the pitch. The longer we go on without knowing what our best lineup and combination of players are, the more likely we are to come unstuck just as we did today.

Glasner has taken a squad of mainly bang average players and turned them into a well organised machine. Im sure he could get more of a tune out of Utd than their current numpty has.

                • thats it though.. The man-united players are not of the standard of the Palace players.. and that's disrespectful to Palace ,calling them bang average.. they have a lot of talented players
I don't get this Man-united players have attitude problems. First and foremost they ain't good enough. you can run for a week. but every other team players do the same.

I think this is spot on and doesn’t get mentioned. Enough , Diaz was literally made for the prem, he was brilliant on the left for us , direct , and tenacious , a great player a gakpo or a wirtz is not on that level so it’s an immediate downgrade. And with no on the right not firing , I watched an old vid from about 6 years ago with mane Salah and firmino . A prime mane , what I’d give for that

                    • And why I was aghast that we sold Diaz - despite all the rhetoric about him wanting to leave.,, I think the club were not going to increase his wage much… Mistake.

Mo only ever hit his best with a foil on the opposite flank. I am one of his biggest fans but he isn’t going to be effective at his age when double marked. That can’t happen with a dangerous Diaz but it is happening this season without him. Gakpo will hit patches of form and things will look better but he isn’t going occupy or scare enough opponents consistently to grant Mo what he has been used to since he arrived from Roma…

How was it "rhetoric" when he said it himself that he wanted to leave?

(as opposed to the speculation that it as because we weren't going to increase his wage much)

I say it was - at the time… He said he wanted to leave a long time after doing so.. He’s at Bayern, What’s he to say… I wanted to stay at Liverpool but they wouldn’t pay me the money I wanted? - So IF we accept his words that he seemingly did want to leave - it’s definitely highly likely because he wasn’t offered what he felt was nearly enough to stay?

And he was only far lower wages than you would expect a player of that class. I am suggesting that we are not privy to the truth and likely never will be

                                He's taking up space now.
How many more chances is he going to get?

I'd even rather have a lineup that has Chiesa playing slightly deeper in a false 10 than bringing on Jones to do his little tricks that lead to nothing, and then a disappearing act for the rest of the time he's on the field.
Yep. Worth noting we actually lost possession leading to their goal after another one of his nothing passes. He gave the ball away twice in a few minutes.

All in all though we simply have to stop conceding goals. Our back line looks so vulnerable, there's clearly an issue at RB which is why he's rotating three different players and the best of the three is also one of our best midfielders.
That result has been coming. They've got away with a few and need to get their heads together now.
Chiesa did well again when coming on, fuck knows what he has to do to get a start in the league.
The defining moments in our lives are never planned.
