He’s kept doubling down from popular opinion by keeping playing 4231 and keep including Wirtz and playing Salah & Gakpo who are essentially both forwards deeper than they played before so further away from goal

With the ONE we only have one central player with 2 CBs around him to try and play into and off

That's why Gomez is so useful cos he can play a few positions. He's not the best but he is versatile. Right now will he be any worse than Konate?

Winning a lot of front foot defending challenge in the air and on the deck and Gomez can’t front foot defend to save his life neither could Quansah and when either of our CBs backs off like those 2 do, it creates more issues than Konate’s odd lapses

Is probably right - Konate isn’t great but he is almost certainly the best partner for Virgil within our ranks. Wouldn’t have been had we not dicked around over a few million and left it to the death with Guehi.

I mentioned not long after we won the title how poor I felt Konate was. I watched him for France - and his calamitous defending. I think in 1.5 games with him they shipped 7 goals. France - with all that defensive sgrength!!! Not sure who was responsible for missing out on Guehi but whoever it is - must be keeping a very low profile

Failing guehi we should be looking at Scalvini or Upamecano..... was plenty of CB's out there in the summer not sure why guehi or nothing.

We have been linked recently with Upemecano, and we were linked with him a couple of years ago too, I remember. But he is very error-prone. Not for me.

I was originally thinking they should go straight In and guehi, but I don’t think they will so it , I think they will see it as wasted money , I think they will try and buy another centre back in Jan then still try and get him on a free next summer and hope he still wants to come

I hope so because we need 2 Konates off and shite anyway and VVD is 35 in the summer

That's the team for me but noodlehead starts ahead of Isak if he's fit
