So, looks like wirtz wont be first choice in midfield and potentially will be vying for LWF minutes. So who are the options if an extra body was to be bought in in janurary? Have a feeling it will be elliott returning from loan which would be better than nothing

No chance...... why would we need Elliot back?Originally posted by darrenpotter View PostSo, looks like wirtz wont be first choice in midfield and potentially will be vying for LWF minutes. Pretty sure there's a clause too, I mean if he plays a certain amount of games they have to buy him doubt there's a recall option
Then again
Aston Villa are rethinking their plans for Harvey Elliott.
On-loan this season from Liverpool, Elliott's deal includes an obligatory permanent option set at £35m should the midfielder make 10 appearances.
Elliott so far has played five games and the Independent says there is now discussion inside Villa about whether they want to keep him long-term.
As such, there is the prospect of Villa manager Unai Emery freezing out Elliott leading up to the January market before sending him back to Liverpool.
Watching developments are RB Leipzig, which were beaten by Villa to the signing of Elliott over the summer.
Can't even get starts for villa

That sounds.....difficult. Would be wonderful mind!Originally posted by jozza800 View PostAssuming we still have a bit of money left in the kitty, i'd be handing over £80-100m for Wharton and Guehi. Though I can't see them letting either go in Jan.
If we aren't in a title race (and thus not wedded to "immediate impact" lads) then I'd say Kenan Yildiz looks good in terms of covering a couple of positions and would further us along the future-proofing project.
Probably not a needle-mover/scale-tipper if we find ourselves close to Arsenal or Man City (5 points behind or less) though.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool

Good shout, I actually see villa giving us elliot back if it means he won't play 10 games, I don't think they want him..... says it all really :/Originally posted by Insidious View PostThat sounds.....difficult. Would be wonderful mind!

Can't see us signing a midfielder we have Jones and Endo for cover that'll be enough for slot...... we need a regular starter to rotate with the 3, but that'll be summer if then...... we needed one this summer... I feel like we won't even get one next summer as we'll be sorting CB's out

Doubt Slot has bombed out Kerkez & Wirtz in the longer term. Suspect we'll look at CB in January.Originally posted by darrenpotter View PostSo, looks like wirtz wont be first choice in midfield and potentially will be vying for LWF minutes. He hasn't been as good this season thus far as he was last season. Brighton also want around £100m for him. Our two £100m+ players aren't yet pulling up any trees, so I'd be a bit wary of spending even more big bucks on a player who has had one good, but not fantastic season.Originally posted by teesred View PostJust pay Brighton whatever they require for Baleba.
Xhaka cost Sunderland peanuts. He would have been a good, cheap addition. I thought he was a good player even before he joined Arsenal.

Xhaka is playing well and was also instrumental the year Bayer won the league but Jozza said recently that of we'd signed him in the summer this place would have melted in its own anger. The defining moments in our lives are never planned.
