I had my worries about playing like this. all these midfielders and no one close enough to the shot for the second goal..Virgil was in a normal position.Wasnt his fault THIS time..

HT 2-0 Our former coach has them pressing and counter pressing far better than we are under Slot

2 jammy and soft goal through not being aggressive enough in the press and not getting to their players quick enough

Nope. I think that's the defence of our title done.

Ourselves (first) and Arsenal (second) last season lost 4 League games in the entirety of the 24/25 season.

Realistically, one we had lost 4 of our opening 10 this season around, a title defence was going to be unlikely. We'd be reliant on being near-perfect whilst getting dips from both Arsenal and Man City.

Realistically I think we will be begrudgingly accepting the consolidation of the Champion's League position (finishing maybe 3rd, ideally 2nd if we find form) whilst trying to ensure we can find form for the Champion's League knock-out rounds of February and onwards - ideally using as many of the newer/future players as possible to enter the 26/27 season with the confidence that is ebbing out of this one.

Competent title defences, for whatever reason, don't seem to be our thing - but that doesn't mean we shouldn't aim to find form and to grasp the chance of a European adventure.
