Exactly. Some of us might have called it before he left Not many mind.

But yes, TAA is a huge loss. Our set pieces have gone to crap. Probably accounts for some of the drop off in Salah's form too.

Oh 💯 it’s impacting Salah. Can’t see how it wouldn’t. It’s allowing teams to be more carefree about pressing us too because he’s not there to open them up with a long pass if they get caught in possession with too many players high up the pitch. It’s multifaceted how we miss him.

      • Yep to think some people was happy he was going and bradley was better apparently.....

Glad I got that one right at least, and actually defended the boy that was with us since he was 6 years old.. wish he stayed his real move isn't exactly working out a dream at the moment.

The lack of the press and counter press and pressure on the ball is part of it

Virgil and Konate can’t use their skills at defending high one v one without pressure on the ball

The entire back four can’t see what’s coming as easy and clearly or stop it before it’s coming with a midfield 2 instead of a 3 without the strong coordinated press from the front and the FBs pressing onto their men

What I’m describing is how we played the last 10 years

The formation and style of play is what has changed everything and why we’re leaking goals

Players backing off and sitting off instead of taking aggressive front foot positions

Players letting crosses come in easy (Kerkez) I see the defender the player gets in front of or off the back off always get blamed, if you allow players in this league the time to look up and pick the perfect cross with no pressure on the ball, that’s not in the defender trying to pick up for me as the ball can be indefensible

I reckon he'll be a success there eventualy. It took Owen, Beckham, McManaman and others time to settle in Madrid. He might start to kick on next season.

            • Yep there’s definitely something lacking in our pressing to force mistakes. Not coordinated and lacking in agression or energy too. There’s lots of things we can improve on but the leadership/ impetus isn’t there for whatever reason. Even our passing when only trying to knock it about on the halfway line is lacking snappiness and we often almost lose the ball to one pressing forward with inaccuracy and under hit passes. All symptoms of larger problems that need to be sorted.

But we’re barely using the long diagonals or ball through the lines when it’s on, it is like all the players are under strict instruction not to be direct when it’s on and our entire game will revolve around a short pressing dominating possession style without going anywhere fast

Salah is being asked to play 10 yards deeper as an attacking midfielder, when he’s a wide forward who needs to play on the shoulder and make runs in behind

We’re missing the triangle link up between Szobo Bradley and Mo, that was Szobo Trent and Mo for two seasons that was Hendo Trent and Mo for several and the basics of how they especially Trent Mo and He do worked that space to release any of them opening and closing the channel to play the ball through be released through or whip the cross through

Plain as day when Frimpong came on last game Bradley and Frimpong trying to link Szobo too far away not helping or forming that triangle with them, it’s been a feature of our many for 10 years until these changes

Why Szobo has to be stood there not trying to help make things happen not picking up either for Wirtz to try and play a wall pass off you’d have to ask Slot

                • There are issues all over the pitch. There is absolutely no cohesion in the side be it with those playing alongside each other such as Konate and VVD, or any combination of our midfield three or front three. There is a huge disconnect between our defence, midfield and attack, and as a result there is no smooth transition of the ball between those areas. We play endless amounts of slow, backwards and sideway passes, but very few quick one-twos, balls played into open spaces for our players to run onto, or even things such as VVD pinging a quick long ball to Salah.

When an issue arises such as the opposition winning the ball in a dangerous position, there doesn't seem to be any protocols in place as to what our players should be doing to try and rectify the situation. All that happens is that we get punished or nearly punished, heads drop, and some players start moaning and pointing fingers, namely VVD at his teammates, and you can see the little energy and positivity in this team dwindle even further.

Slot doesn't seem to know how to address any of these issues. He's not cultivating a sense of togetherness and resilience, his use or non use of players is highly questionable, he doesn't seem to say or do anything positive during half times when we're struggling, and he says highly questionable things in his interviews and press conferences such as telling opposition managers what they need to do to beat us.

I posted somewhere else, we're a team low on confidence and struggling with injuries. Free flowing football is out the window for the time being. It's about griding out results until we get everyone fit and playing together.

                      • Ok slots bad & we know it. The way he treats fringe players is disgusting. The fact Harvey Elliott is stuck in Limbo & Chiesa gets no look in. Rio being wasted. If its a matter of time before we get shot of slot then who should take over i want slot out but I see no replacement standing out

                        • What people seem to forget is that before Slot we were linked with Amorin,Ange,Thomas Frank & Alonso. All have proved incapable of delivering at bigger clubs so as bad as Slot seems....sack him & bring in who?Another mid tier manager not equipped for a higher level. Unfortunately I see Slot or worse & believe me Slot is completely out of his depth

                          • Alonso isn't doing too badly in Madrid

                            • Nope but he is under pressure.

He’s the only one I see that fits. But it will take a big personality to set the boundaries within the current operation,

The forever in absentia Cigar Smoking Wrinkled Dick has always wanted to try his hand. It took a once in a generation manager to get us competitive despite him and his ridiculous model.

At least we bought some decent players this summer. A top level manager has this lot challenging with a few more additions.

                              • I still believe we have a good squad and 2 or 3 new buys will push us on.
But a coach's job is to get the best out of the players he has.
The question is "is slot getting the best out of the players"for me the answer is no.
