Yes. I really feel it's worth a gamble on someone else, preferably Alonso if he's willing. I find it hard to believe ANY other manager wouldn't get more from those players. Looking at them on paper there's a decent first team there who should be walking top four.

The league has been poor in terms of quality this season. Far cry from when we and City were getting close to a hundred points.

No CL next season is pretty much a dead cert.

I'm absolutely not saying this as an endorsement of Slot - truly I'm not - but the fact we are somehow still 5th after 31 games tells me we still have a chance - purely because Champion's League races are infinitely messier than title challenges and because some of the sides going for it (Chelsea!) have also managed to be dire.

I laid out a possible outcome for the weekend's fixtures in another thread (we beat Fulham, Man City beat Chelsea, Brentford and Everton draw) which could see us 4 and 5 points clear respectively. I'm not naive enough to think that it will all happen like that in a neat little bow - but these "swing" weekends where people's positions rise or climb can make the table look different every week and we have as much of a chance as Chelsea/Brentford/Everton of limping over the Champion's League line at the depth.

Am I confident we'll do it? Absolutely not - the last 7 games look bloody difficult - but I don't think us missing out is a certainty by any stretch despite our poor form.
