If I was slot/the next manager I'd be asking the club to withdraw the offer to konate and sell salah asap too. Gakpo must be on borrowed time too
It looks like most have downed tools except Alisson, Szob, Ekitike and a few others. Need a new broom to sweep up the mess. Posted on the other thread that it looks like the big players have too much power. VVD and Salah after their contracts look to be having a cigar. Tough for him as a new manager coming in...he tried to keep things the same but now he's tried to change it, it's not working and his big players are letting him down too. Seems like a loss of respect for him.

If it was just the above then I'd have sympathy for him but his starting eleven picks and sub gambles reflect a man who has lost his grip. I'd expect to see gomez, ramsey, robbo, rio and chiesa all start on Sunday. Knowing our luck etikite will be out for weeks with a sore back ffs. If its salah, gakpo and dom at RB then he's more or less willing it to be his last game. Sad if so

      • Why though? why would you down tools after he won the league last season??

Somethings gone on behind the scenes imo, maybe some players not happy others left and obviously death of jota... i'm not sure but there's more to it imo

Looks like a lack of effort. There's been a good few times where VVD has thrown a lazy leg out. Last night he put his arm up bizarrely....strange behaviour to be honest. The attitude seems off. Konate is a basket-case. Kerkez looks lost. If you're Szobo watching Salah stroll around and earn 300k per week while you bust a gut....got to be demotivating. Add in that Salah rarely passes...and goes for the Hollywood shot all the time. VVD and Salah are our leaders....

They're not happy with his shite system? Players not happy that Salah keeps getting picked, despite stinking the place out every week?

            • Is that the question though? I mean Konate has been shyte on and off for years - but WHY are the main men - Virgil -
& Mo as well as Grav, & Macca so out of sorts all at the same time?

Some want to put it on Wirtz or Kerkez.. But they thought they had come to the home of the Champions, not a Spurs side coached by Juande Ramos….!

You wonder what they must be thinking at this moment of time! I don't think either Wirtz or Isak would been signing for us if we were bidding on them in January.

They're certainly part of the problem, but not THE problem.

I think we've actually looked worse in the last two games without Wirtz in the team, which says a lot because he's not been great!

                • Yep, the media noise will be getting to them too. People can lose sight of how this affects players.

It starts to feed the psyche of the ‘doubter’ while it erodes the ‘believer’

This is what is so baffling.
Obviously we are being caught on the counter by pushing so many players forward which must be a planned action but the collective drop off of pretty much everyone aside from Szobo,Ali and possibly Robbo is just insane. A lack of pace is now an issue but we've usually had the tools to create and score even without that whereas right now our scoring rate must be the lowest it's been in god knows how long.
There's literally nothing going right despite our stats showing a completely different picture, just shows how misleading and sometimes irrelevant stats actually are.
The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

Kerkez is one of the lads I have the most sympathy for.

Yes, he is making mistakes like ending up on the wrong side of his runner etc, but he is clearly being tactically instructed to do certain things that aren't his natural game.

He'd have been a good understudy for Robbo I. A Klopp system - stay wide, whip crosses in, run all day. But this thing of having to invert and UNDERLAPPING Gakpo into the congested left half-space that too many of our players favour (I've mentioned this in a few posts this season) bewilders me - not to mention how that was overlooked on the recruitment side in terms of keeping a balance in the team.

                      • Players of a certain quality and those used to playing at a high level can continue to go through the motions - playing the patterns they have been drilled with, but to score the goals and also to stop them going in at the other end…. takes an intensity and a desire we simply don’t seem capable of mustering.

                        This is the real issue.
