Well October should have been a revert to what won us the league or go ultimatum to be fair

The only redemption there can possibly be for Edwards and Hughes in this is to get Yildiz in this window

We have our differences you think players can magically be shoe horned into any formation and style of play and stronger disagree 😂 but surely even you don’t believe in a 4231 being played as outs is

After 22 games last year we had 53 points
      Scored 54
      Conceded 21

      This year 36 points
      Scored 33
      Concede 29

If Salah of last season was here in 25/26 he'd have 16.45 goal contributions.

And still just win our last 4 draws in the PL and it's 44 points ... ffs

Stats sites like whoscored show we play 4231 mostly under Slot, and did so in 2024/25.
In 2023/24 under Kopp they show 433, which we mostly played under Klopp.

In contrast to you calling for Slot early doors, I'd suggest each of Virgil, Konate, MacA & Salah have been worse than Slot this season.
And having those 4 ^^^^ from last season, this season, well it would be 44+ points minimum.

4 draws in the last 4
        4 underperforming 1st eleven players
        A few more injuries
        No 44 points minimum

          It’s the system and style

Stats site can show what they want I’ve watched the goals right through and the numbers of players in areas are very clear

          Definite fromt 3

Definite midfield 3 with Szobo or Macca often moving from there to 10 when attacking 4213 quite often in evidence

Mo and Diaz mostly ahead of Jota

Don’t know what they’re watching it’s clearly the same patterns as under Jurgen

All the main sports broadcasters and pundits had it as 433 throughout the season there were several pundits analysis if ‘our midfield 3’ too

This is where you don’t understand the game and the why of those players

Poor press and counter press through obvious formation and style of play change

Equals no pressure on the ball hugely adversely affecting Virgil and Konate this is a consequence of Slot’s changes

Salah is playing deeper as it always told you would be an issue in a 4231 and the play is being made to all try and revolve around Wirtz all short passing and slow Mo needs it further forward and direct when he’s free and it’s on, that’s not been happening for the most part - Again a consequence of the changes

Very clear in lots of the goals of last season we played a 3 in midfield from where Szobo or Macca or both moved into the 10 position joining the attack They often did this following a more direct ball from deeper to the forward

The direct balls are barely being played it’s all nothing 5 yard balls Wirtz mostly occupies the space Macca used to move into

Again a consequence of the changes

So these are all issues cause by Slot

You're arguing against the wider football world if you cannot accept the formations used by Slot & Klopp.
Arguing against, whoscored, transfermarkt, bbc, etc etc.

              Last season as per Transfermarkt

              Grav Played as...

              Defensive Midfield 49 times

              Maca Played as...

              Central Midfield 23 times
              Defensive Midfield 23 times
              Attacking Midfield 2 times

              Sobozla Played as...
              Attacking Midfield 37 times
              Central Midfield 8 times
              Centre-Forward 2 times

Those positions played are consistent with 4231

Grav played 6 in the double pivot like Mascherano say

MacA playing in the double pivot like Alonso say

Sobozla playing in the 10 like Gerrard.

Konate & VVD are personally responsible for numerous goals and errors and penalties.
They're both having poor seasons. MacA & Salah likewise having poor seasons. All 4 worse than Slot as I see it. Scandalous stuff really from these lads.

We continue to occupy 4th spot, but for how long?

Distance ahead of 5th - just the 1 point ahead of Man United

A 3-0 away win over Marseille was welcome and our 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions isn't to be sniffed at, but undeniably the number of draws, particularly "in a row" means we're still in something of a stagnant spot. The three losses to 3-goal deficits on the spin feels like a long time ago and we have certainly "steadied" but it's now time to start getting League wins on the board again in our continued efforts to have a good season.

                    Not updating sid?

Interesting remaining fixtures, we really could do with gettign a bit of a gap before the end of the season, we play villa utd and chelsea.

I have a feeling and it would be hilarious if it happened villa might end up 6th considering where they was and looked like challengers at one point.

I'll update later or tomorrow Kev - lots on ATM.

I'd love to get ahead of the Mancs so that a draw at Old Trafford would be "enough" but I think we only have seven (?) fixtures within which to do that.

I think utd will get top 5 question is at who's cost, us villa or chelsea.

They've got no other games, and have more options than us on the bench at the moment and more depth.

United might even finish third. I think we might sneak in the top 5 at Chelsea's expense

I remain (very cautiously) optimistic that we will sneak Champion's League qualification too and potentially at Chelsea's expense given their fixtures, though there's definitely something to Kev's idea of Villa dropping off - the very last couple of fixtures for them aren't easy.

Just hope the Mancs have a drop-off. Every season that they miss out while ourselves and someone else (let's say Villa for now) continue to build is another hurdle in their path to rebuilding towards winning one of either the League or the Champion's League - which I hope they get nowhere close to for as long as humanly possible as it helps us extend certain club records.

I'd love to see us at 22 or 23 League titles before they get their 21st and I'd love to see us on 7 or 8 European Cups before they get their 4th and so on.

Its not about others dropping off,its can we pick up.
And there's been little sign of it.

I’m hoping Sunday was an anomaly and we’d over prepared with Wirtz part of it and when he didn’t play what we’d practiced all week went out the window

We’ve started defending well at least and Big Bear is still incredible at earning us points

We need consistency of selection and tactics so the forwards can start making more consistent good runs to be released

I think the issue since the disastrous attempt at the old Dutch way with Wirtz as a designated playmaker is it knocked all our automation in pressing and counter pressing and positioning and on field Renato ships out us

We were showing very e migrating signs of getting it back together with 3 up and Wirtz joining from deeper, I really didn’t expect Saturdays performance

Still we won now let’s have a performance and win

Summerville and Bowen are their real danger men we need to be strong on our right and left and inside left
