Yildiz would be a ridiculously promising acquisition if we continued his development. Not sure how viable it is, but that'd be one Hell of a piece of future-proofing.
I'd obviously love Guehi here (who wouldn't?) but I have concerns about us maybe paying £20m or more for a player with so little time left on their contract - it could set a precedent for the market for future years.
What's better paying 20-30m for Guehi in January
Or fear of missing out on champions league- him not joining us in Summer... and having to find a CB for double the price?
No brainer really...worth it especially with the english tax.... if we miss out on top4 he could go anywhere in the summer...
You do realise the old way of pressing from the front is old now?
Most teams press from the front, which is why Klopp had to resort to a high line in 21/22 when “experts” like yourself were attacking him for doing so even though the defence was managing.
Football is a chess game, always evolving. Teams now use a low mid block press and Slot is trying to copy the PSG model. That’s not an overnight fix. More numbers in the press in the low mid block, quick outball release with one pacey full back/winger/wingback. Pingpong being injured has hampered that. Wirtz is key to this system but it’s taking longer than hoped.
Buying guys like Ekitike and Isac isn’t some “haphazard” transfer policy like you’re going on about. It’s by design. We’re moving away from the old way because even garbage managers like Dyche are doing it. It’s old now. Klopp did it. It’s OLD!
You make out you’re some football guru but the amount knee jerk ignorant shite you post is embarrassing. Just stick to the pom poms and “Can I get an L…I…” during games. Know your limits son.
I said this less eloquently in another thread...we always struggled when teams park the bus....the likes of wirtz and Eke are here to address this....we just beed to get the balance between that and the press right...

I dont think its that simple Kev, Palace having a season they may never repeat, chance of lifting a european trophy (which would guarantee them a EL place next season?) and an outside chance of a CL place via the league. If he walked out on that, he'd maybe never forgive himself and their supporters wouldnt forget it either, thats even if Parrish would allow it anyway. Its around £3M for every place higher in the league a team finishes plus European money so i'd say they'll keep him.
Plus financially, its in his own interests to wait for the buying club to pay him a nice signing on fee and prob a higher salary too come June.
But in the outside chance Palace do have another CB lined up and will sell, then its an absolute no-brainer to pay them what they want on 1st Jan even if he doesnt transfer until 1st feb say.

Thats if Guehi still wants to come.....at least he knows he will get gam3 time.

Ermmm not exactly a great season so far
They'll end up in mid-table.. no chance of CL in the league
Might have a chance in the mighty conference league because it's championship level, even then it's not like they're storming it, I don't think guehi will miss much in all honesty.
They'll probably crash soon and be knackered.... already a few weird results in the Championship league.

Wirtz, Ekitike and the others are players bought to fit the system that Slot wants to play. They just haven't played enough together due to injuries. Also, losing TAA. He touches on it in the video I posted here https://forums.lfconline.co.uk/showt...37#post2879237
They gazumped us for Huisen. And for Bellingham. And Tchouameni. All 'nailed on for LFC' according to the social media circus. They took Trent for free. They've been linked with Konate, Macallister, Soboszlai,
We've been linked numerous times with Rodrygo, Valverde (would take him in a minute), Kamavinga.
I don't recall a player moving from Madrid to Liverpool. (Maybe in Rafa era? Morientes?)
