They will have offered him wages that no club will go near.
We can all lament what happened in the summer but in this situation there's no doubt City are yet again ruining the market and setting a precedent paying 20m for a player with 5 months on his contract. They're a fucking disgrace of a club. The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

I don't think 20m is the issue. It's the wages. Rumours of £300K per week. Which as you say no other club will touch.Originally posted by teesred View PostThey will have offered him wages that no club will go near.

Romano had said we were pushing hard. No reason to believe we weren't bit as soon as City had an injury crisis at CB nobody was competing for any player they want.Originally posted by Ravo19 View PostOr knew liverpool where'nt going to make a offer
They're a disgrace to the game, plain and simple. The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

Good post.Originally posted by boom-klopp View PostShowed his true colours (pun intended). The media scumbags gave it the big un with how professional and principled he is.
Soon as he was offered a supposedly better deal, he was off to City.
Fans are upset, but quite honestly, I’m glad. We dodged a bullet with him. Do we really want players like that at the club?
You have to be a man of your word, someone with class to play for LFC. He’s shown none. Prick.
Going to a club where you’re one of 7 cb’s vs the biggest club in England, the most watched club in the world, and become an iconic player? He’s obviously as stupid as he looks with that gimpish smirk he has on his face.
As for Palace, they clearly have some issue with us. Fans shitting on Hughes et al, but we did everything correct in summer. That simp Parish didn’t even return our enquiry despite us lodging the bid early on in summer. Hope they get relegated. The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

If he is getting £300k a week instead of £200k a week, that is an additional £26m over 5 years.
His fee is £20m. It’s still well within what is feasible for an England International in a position we are desperate to fill.
We were happy with £200k a week (apparently) and paying £35m for him, this works out at around £11m more inc wages over 5 years"I am the Normal One."

Aye, but it's £400k in 3 years time when he wants a new contract etc...Originally posted by miller0863 View PostIf he is getting £300k a week instead of £200k a week, that is an additional £26m over 5 years.

I called it. Football is a business where money talks. As soon as we failed to get Guehi over the line in the summer it was certain that another club would make him an offer he couldn't refuse. That combined with us not looking great on the pitch just made Guehi's decision even easier to make. Anybody who still believes in words being people's bonds is naive, especially when it comes to things such as football.
Hughes and Edwards need binning.

Just look at the state of our squad compared to our rivals, it’s pitiful.
Just look at CB and wide forward. Both have four wide forwards the will actually use, we have two, both horrendously out of form and the manager doesn’t take their cover seriously.
Whoever doesn’t think we should have been seriously trying to bring in City’s two January signings is deluded."I am the Normal One."

Put a bid in the Konsa instead. Villa are hard up for cash aren’t they?
Gutted we missed out but it was clear when we couldn’t get it over the line in the summer that other big clubs would come in for him.
All this bollox about him giving his word is just that ‘Bollox’ especially when another £100k a week is at stake
We move on !

How do you know we weren't trying to make those 2 signings? We can all see that CB needs strengthening but not many clubs compete with City for players and win. For someone watching football for 50 years, you should know that much by now.
There are plenty of other CBs around.
