Our defending of set pieces and countering immediately from them has gone to shit, we were always very well organised, we’d have Mo further forward about half way as an outlet to potentially go long and a player hugging the touch line about halfway to half way the opposite side ready to lead the instant counter and clear it to those areas regularly

Attacking corners we’d set up so the ball was going penalty spot to far post so the majority of time it was headed clear it would go towards the far post corner of the box and we always had a player there to pick up that second ball and put it straight back in, usually to the opposite far post where our players would have an overload and were drilled to get back inside and be taking positions ready for the recycled ball coming back in with the opposition defenders not set

No team in Europe’s big five leagues has conceded more set-play goals (12) than Liverpool this season.

However, the ECHO understands Liverpool and head coach Slot are adamant the change should not be seen as a "silver bullet" that will now address the issue.

With no replacement lined up, the onus will now fall on Slot and his coaching staff to improve the Reds' record at set-pieces which saw them leak a seventh goal from a corner in the top-flight this season in the 2-1 home win over rock-bottom Wolves
It does feel a bit harsh. He was here for us winning the league last year, got moved to a new role and is sacked after half a season. 18 games is a small sample size but we have been poor at set pieces.

Maybe should've been offered his role back before, or another position.... obviously never cut out for set-piece coach....

They're becoming more and more important again in modern football imo- something we need to sort- I mean look at arsenal

There's an element of luck at set pieces. If Arsenal were killing it every year (maybe the are) then it's a model we'd want to copy. I just don't think it's that consistent. There's a decent chance they are rubbish again next year or even the second half of this year.

I read the article on sky yesterday and it's actually the second balls we are having issues with and Virgil has spoken about it previously. You'd think they wouldn't actually need that much coaching on the issue but hey ho.
Arsenal have defended 55 set pieces and we were something like 85 I think which shows another aspect, we are giving away too many to start with and shows yet again that we aren't working as hard as last season in terms of distance and keeping possession.
It mentions that Slot sees set pieces as an "add on". Not as much of a priority to him personally I guess, other sides are having success with it though being a bit more creative in their attacking set pieces.
The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

Oh the set piece is the new scapegoat I see.

It's the lack of work rate you mention tees. That is what leads to most of it. You need a leader players 'believe' in to get them anywhere close to playing at 100%, or 110% like Jurgen did. There was no rallying cry form the mighty German last May to order them into battle for the upcoming season. Just a premature Dj trip to Ibiza..

So being the worst in europe and looking clueless when taking them ourselves- is acceptable?

Clown, please be the next to leave lolzzz anything to blame it on slot again ey Wah wah waaah bring back Klopp

A set piece coach- his role is to you know...... make us better at them not worse, but he never had that job before.... should've never been given it in the first place, not sure what goes on behind scenes but it's not brilliant, like the youth too that's a joke.

He deserves to lose his job, any normal job he'd have failed months ago (3 months probation) shame he couldn't go back to his original role.. but is what it is, he tried something sadly it didn't work.

Don't think the club is being run as good as it should be, but that's a whole different subject

Hired in july gone in december. Set pieces have been wank , pretty ruthless decision which I'm all in favour of. May not get better wirhout getting worse but it a step in the right direction.

                                So who replaces him?

Or do we go into the Leeds match without a set piece coach and just wing it?
