Agree. He looks a different player to the last few seasons.
Despite 6 unbeaten we are far from out of the woods. Still very unconvincing and vulnerable at the back.
I know age is obviously a factor but I just can't get over how many errors Van dijk makes now, slack passes that play us into trouble often and his judgement of things just seems like it's gone. Organisation on set pieces is non existent, who's taking charge in that situation? You'd think they all know where they should be.
The equaliser against Leeds was ridiculous, not one man on the back post.

      • Maybe one of the 8 players in the squad who have captained at international level could take charge now and again?

This idea that it's all on Slot is laughable.

That's what I mean. Surely they know their position on set pieces and one or more of them make sure if this whilst setting up for it during the game?
It just looks disorganised. You'd think Virgil would be the one that does that job but this season it doesn't seem that way which is baffling as it's not something that was an issue last season.

I don't know if it's an organisation problem. If a kids school team conceded that goal yesterday you'd be annoyed. At least 3 or 4 errors inside the box with Virgil missing the ball completely. It might just be one we put down to "things happen" and move on.

On a slightly different point, there are some interesting things happening at set pieces this year. Teams are trying new things, which is great to see. Newcastle overload the back post just before the corner is taken for example.

              • I only got to see match of the day highlights. Didn't show much. How was frimpong? Sounds like he made a contribution including the cross for ekitike.
From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down, I convulsed with laughter. Someday I intend on reading it. Groucho Marx

Yeah that's a good point. Different ideas from a few different teams.

There is no familiarity in anything because we’re not pressing properly or nearly good enough and changing the system has changed how everything is for every player that played in our 433 set up the last 2-10 years

It all matters a football team is a living breathing collective in which all the parts become very used to how all the others work, where they’ll be, what they’ll do, if you take all that away, it’s a team of strangers with barely any of the constants that made them such a force for 10 years

That’s why we should just get back to 433

                    • Think about how certain players faired when we put just one new player in to replace another at times, especially in our forward line of Mane Bobby Mo at their peak in what was a well oiled machine

Small things go wrong they don’t make the same runs etc it causes disruption and stops everything else functioning the same

                            • Looks like a broken leg for Isak. Having seen the replay of the challenge.. it was obviously a red card. but since Isak scored it didnt matter.. The amount of shit that happens to our players IE late challenges is ridiculous. but since we have corrupt Manchester fucking cunts of refs they seem to take delight it not protecting us
Sorry for swearing, I don't normally swear. but i have so much dislike for our officials it makes me explode at times
