It's not about me, though I would obviously fall into that bracket. Ask yourself why someone would support a club from a different city when they have no real affinity with that city? Most fans don't live there. They don't have family there. Why didn't you choose Lincoln City instead of Liverpool?

You ignored the most interesting part of the post. An introspection on why someone in Belfast (as an example) feels the need to spend thousands of pounds annually to go support a team from a different city.
But I get it. People don't want to think of themselves as glory hunters.

Joke Strap, its same with music should a person not like a musician from another place? Im not from Liverpool but i have an affinity for LFC. And i'm glad i support this club.. for many reasons. mostly its because of the family feeling you get with LFC.. Man-city are hollow so is Chelsea.. yet GLORY HUNTERS cottoned onto them in the last 20 years.. You can't make a club like ours.Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

Depends on what you were after. If it was to have me say I was a glory hunter like the rest of you, then ok. But that's not the most interesting topic in my opinion.Originally posted by ianlfc View PostWe got there in the end.
I still don't understand why you support LFC for example. That's the fundamental and interesting question.

Must be the only Liverpool who didn’t expect us to beat an atrociously out of form Spurs, with the worst home record in the Prem over the last two seasons, when down to 10 men. Then down to 9 when we were in front.
He must have absolutely zero faith in the players or manager if he’s not expecting a victory under those circumstances."I am the Normal One."

Tottenham always seem to have issues with us.. years they have been kicking lumps out of our players. and the refs have helped them in numerous fixtures. Their new shiny stadium is like a millstone around their necks. can't win there for toffeeCleaning up the Scots since the 13th century

I like the fact that justme is replying despite him spending endless hours asking others to ignore me. He even started a thread about that in Off Topic. At least he had the decency to put it there. I genuinely almost never see his posts. Partly because nobody ever bothers to quote him. I wonder why.
Anyway the comparison with musicians is incorrect. You can like as many musicians as you choose. You can decide that one of the artists you used to like is crap and you'll no longer buy their music. There is no rivalry amongst supporters of different musicians. And so on. The analogy doesn't work.
And you may think you have affinity with a city but my point is you don't have any real affinity with that place. Most LFC fans have never visited Liverpool. So if you're not from the city, don't have family in the city and don't live in the city then why did you choose a club from that city to support?
And don't get me started on the irony of thinking that you're better than a glory hunter who supports another club
You couldn't make that up.

If you can't have 'real affinity' with a place you aren't from, then I assume you stay silent when Alisson makes a save, Mac Allister bossing the midfield, or Salah scoring? None of them were born in a Liverpool Hospital. Even Isak, who we’re all worried about, is from Solna, not Southport.
In fact we must all be total chumps. Cause by this logic - and it’s not without some foundation - we’re all simply wasting our lives, allowing our moods to be defined by the results achieved by a disparate group of fellas in branded uniform from anywhere. They could be from Moss Side or Hackney, Bondi (Paris) Torre Del Greco (Naples) or Barracas (Buenos Aires)

Do you think any of our players will retire on the Wirral? They and the other staff are paid to come to LFC and do a job. It's a career. Most of them will live around the city while doing their job and may end up liking the place. I don't know too many who retire in Liverpool. Most will go back home. That's nothing like the life of a fan so stop making stupid comparisons.Originally posted by Steveo View PostIf you can't have 'real affinity' with a place you aren't from, then I assume you stay silent when Alisson makes a save, Mac Allister bossing the midfield, or Salah scoring? Well yes. It's not so much that you're wasting your life but that is a good reflection. I'm asking the question of why do you care about Liverpool instead of Cambridge Utd.Originally posted by Steveo View PostIn fact we must all be total chumps.
