  • Fulham v Liverpool

    Team

    Alisson

    Bradkey Konate Van Dijk Robertson

    Szoboslai Gravenberch Mac Allister

    Chiesa Ekitike Gakpo

Best 433 we have available, let’s go back to the winning formula

433 pressing and counter pressing high tempo high intensity, direct when it’s on, runs in behind long and medium diagonals and switches take the shortest route to goal in as few pass as possible whenever possible

    Get the win

Keeping it and passing it aimlessly with no intensity and tempo or variation to unsettle and move teams isn’t going to get us anywhere and it’s a criminal waste of the players we have

Slot doesn’t even view set pieces as that important, they are vital to every team

I thought Bradley was poor today.. he was going at an 100 miles an hour with no finesse. . Id go for Frimpong on the right and Dom on the right side of the attack..

a midfield of Graveberch Macca and Jones.. with Gakpo on the left.

Our last big title success was last year playing 4231.

Our last big title success playing 433 was in 19/20.

Slots been going on about set pieces regularly this season.

Yep, i'm not sure what people were watching last season, but it definitely wasn't a 433. Szobaszlai played as the 10 for most of that season, he just had 'more legs' to help a bit in midfield.

However, whatever it is supposed to be that we are playing this season is million miles away from what were doing last season.

It's still 4231, but the shape and make-up is totally different (and not in a good way).

Last season, Slot just took enough of the energy out side and slowed it down just enough to control games and still have a threat. There was good cover for the back line and enough going the other way. Enough pressure on the opposition to make life difficult...

This season, he's completely put the handbrake on and left us wide open at the back at the same time. Too slow in posession, no midfield cover for the defenders, zero movement or incisivness. We've been absolutely neutered!

It's night and day, the difference between last season and this.

As for the line up - I'd go with the same starting line up as last night.

I thought we look 'ok' for the most part in the first half. Certainly far more threataning than we did in the 2nd...

We have a different set of players and some have fallen off cliff form wise. Think Mo Salah. That's what's happened between last season and this one.

It's 70/80% tactical imo. There's too many cliff falling players for it to be otherwise.

You said yourself it's the same system. An Mo hasn't changed position so there's no tactical reason for his form. If anything it's 80% player form and 20% tactical changes to be a bit more solid.

Oh and TAA is no longer here. That's a pretty significant change from last season.

Remember all those people who told you we wouldn't miss him? They were wrong and generally know nothing about football.

I'd rest Wirtz and Kerkez for the Arsenal game. We have 9 games total in January, 8 left. Keeping the players fit and injury free over this period is key.

i'd be more than happy with that formation but slot will push szoboszlai into the 10 in his 4 2 3 1.
