Quality analysis from Slot after the game. Confirmed that he made tactical tweaks at half time.

    10 games unbeaten now.

Really poor chance creation for all that possession as usual, not one shot on target is simply pathetic

It remains the slow train to nowhere until he can train them in passing directly and incisively to create chances rather than just passing to keep it

We need to play those direct balls when they’re on against all teams, with a run or two supporting that ball we win most second balks as a new point of attack

To attack quickly and directly from that new point of attack the low block isn’t set for us far more effective than going slowly side to side and backwards

As is condensing play in one side and using a switch or medium diagonal to release a play in the opposite side who then has 3 runners to pick out arriving far post to penalty spot

      It’s such a simply game

Pressing and counter pressing second half an 8 the best this season but chance creation. Pathetic

Reasonable people would look at the Arsenal game and think that with Salah, Isak and Ekitike all out it was always going to be difficult to score. And Arsenal are a quality team with a top class defence.

We don’t create chances with them in the team through overpassing needlessly slow tempo not being direct when it’s on to be and not using variation

Moving side to side in 5 passes thrn backwards with too many players looking to be in space and not enough picking up is never going to work against low blocks it’s exactly how they want you to play

As I said in the match thread, let’s get a full team out before we go making definitive judgements.

Bollocks we’ve had 4 months of this turgid over passing zero creation shite

We’ve had our best possible 11 out plenty of times

If he approaches all games like this regardless of the opposition but works on being more direct every time it is on to be

              Cutting out the needless passing

Keeps working on the pressing and counter pressing and players picking up, most of them picking up not having too many in space

Cut out the everything a short pass routine and work on variation mixing it up, playing switches and. Medium and long diagonal balls and supporting that ball with runs to win any second ball AND attacking quickly shortest route to goal from there the low block out of place

Always having 2 options for a counter one half way one half way up your own half on opposite side always have an outball

When you do all that you have far more opportunities to create chances and hence you create far more

You create chances through the defence not being set Through players moving off their man at the right time to make a run and be found and the player behind them moving to pick up their man

Great sides all gave a way of playing that they play with slight tweaks against every opponent and in all situations

Pressing and picking g up is a much better form of defence than sitting g off in numbers letting the opposition have it

We had all of that with incredible automation and he buggered it up changing formation NOW he has to work really hard to make sure he gets it back in the new formation to higher levels and with greater consistency

Playing really smart less obvious percentages with a plan is great football Slot seems to have Dutch idealist syndrome and that willl never cut it in the Prem, it’ll win nothing

The time for keeping the ball not creating is when you’re 2-0 up to deny the opposition any opportunities to get back in it and maybe nick a third as they over commit

And that is t a fucking stroll low tempo effort either, the players need to work really hard to support the ball

A lot more of the second half display with greater directness and less overplay and building on that every fave is needed

                  I’m being perfectly reasonable

Fantasy manager Slot’s dream of a 4231 with Wirtz as a designated playmaker he imagined everything would go through taking this league by storm caused all the issues we have

With the unwelcome bonus issue of FSG not wanting to back him with more funds this window and players not seeing us as such an attractive prospect anymore

Admit it, is was fantasy island crap from Slot, he fucked us over big time If he’d strengthened the 433 we’d be walking the meagre again with Semenyo and Diaz in our ranks

430m he wasted on HIS Fantasy team that showed he doesn’t know or understand the history of this league or the absolute need for players like Diaz, Doku, Semenyo and for cut and thrust and tempo and variation and scorer pressing and cut ter pressing in this league

Only one guilty of fantasy manager pipe dreams here is Sot

Slot showed his class again last night in the post match interview. Refused to get drawn into to controversy around Martinelli. Said what needed to be said (we don't fake injury) and moved on. Even through all the "boring football" shite from fans and pundits he has handled himself with composure and class. I wouldn't swap him for any other manager in the league.

“I wouldn't swap him for any other manager in the league.”

Is one brave statment when he’s head coach, won a title with another managers team and has looked abject despite hundreds of millions spent on his own.

Let’s see how it ages. And for the record I hope it’s like a fine wine. But near certain it’s more of a plonk…

Last night if anything proves the point. Thats the level this lot can attain even be bereft of 3/4 of the front line. Big game, players don’t need any motivation to face the champions elect while champions. You’ll notice that suddenly Macca showed up - Grav was back to last seasons fare. Players who in the main have looked miles off it in so many games.

When we see that level of effort and commitment to the cause against a Leeds a Forrest or a Brentford - then we can talk.

Yet everyone keeps talking about how he has changed his style.
Good quote and hope its true but if slots prefered formation is 4 3 3,why didnt he use it last season?
                        Where does wirtz fit in?
If slot sticks with 4 2 3 1 is there room for both a firing wirtz and dom?

Last night's set was the same as we played against City, with two 10s instead of a striker.

It was totally different to how we've played all season, and how we played 99% of last season.

Exactly. No anount of explaining that different games require different tactics sometimes seems to sink in.

It's the same question Slot gets in a different manner, why don't we play like that all the time? Because we're not playing Arsenal, Madrid, Inter every week. I don't know why that's hard to understand but apparently it is.

Jurgen often changed the press and counter press he set it in different places so you line up the same but play different t tactics

We used the 2 wide forwards inside a few times against the filthy in position where the FB couldn’t pick them up nor could the CB with the false nine dropping in

Again why he could change like that and most people didn’t notice is he always had a brilliant press and counter press and our intensity in what we did with the ball came from how good we were without it

Slot threw the press out the window it’s everything in top level football
