    • The only way this wouldn't be an epic screwup is if by some miracle they've either managed to convince Klopp to come back to us, or Luis Enrique think's his work at PSG is done and he fancies joining us and having a crack at the PL.

Personally I can't see either of those two things happening, especially with FSG and Hedwards running the club.

      • Alonso has agreed a four year contract with Chelsea. Bitter I may be, but unless he's trying to force our hand to try and hijack the deal at the last minute, he deserves every bit of misfortune he may encounter if he joins that bunch of plastic clowns.

Either way it's a cluster-fuck of epic proportions.
It is clear that Slot will be manager next season. At least part of it until the powers that be kick his fraudulent arse out the door.

By then we'll be even more likely to be heading towards another sustained period of irrelevance. All the in demand managers will have been snapped up, no top drawer player will want to join us, even more so if we're not prepared to pay Salah-esque wages, whilst our 'backbone' will be no more in some way, shape or form.

If FSG ignore that and keep Slot, they are an even bigger bunch of clueless, incompetent "see you next Tuesday's" than we already think they are.

On top that it has been reported that Alonso will be the Chelsea 'manager', not a 'head coach', and as such he will have control of transfers.

I'm not surprised by some of those players who liked it, but find it interesting to see Harvey as one of the ones that liked it, with all that's been in the news in the past couple of days over the "embarrassment" that was his loan deal to Villa.

AT this point I'm more side-eyeing players who are not liking the post more than anything, as that tells me more about them than anything else.

In that respect, it's not surprising to see Gakpo or Macca not on that list.
(maybe it's changed now and they have liked it since it was first posted. I don't have social media and wouldn't know).

Also,.....former players liking it says a lot too, because the perception has now come to be among fans that ex-players - particularly the media types and those of the punditry class - are on the take or doing the club's PR bidding with fans.

For me, it says that his people through backchannels have confirmed with our club officials that they do indeed have no plans to sack Slot and therefore there's no need for him to keep waiting for this position to open up.

Probably that or a combination of, if he were to take the position there were no guarantees he would have any say on player transfers (as Chelsea have given him, according to reports.......and who would want to join this shitshow given the clownnery that Edwards and Hughes have been on in transfer dealings these past two windows?), and that he wouldn't have the final say in how sets up his team to play (the whole not wanting to play 3 at the back, which I don't fully believe Xabi is inflexible on - particularly if it was what meant he got a job with a club he loves)

I hate that it's a rival in Chelsea that he's joining, but I see it in the same light as when we decided to let Guehi and Semenyo join City and let our own season go down the drain.
You can't fault a person for wanting to make a living when the club they wanted to join has other ideas.

Back in Klopp's day, we lost out on Virg during the summer transfer window thanks to all that "tapping up" nonsense, and (I truly believe because of Klopp's own strength of will and insistence) on the first day of the January window, we made sure we were getting his signature to paper and the rest was history.

8 years later and we're doing the whole,..."...we'll hope he's still available in the summer and that no other clubs will come for him in the meantime...."...tripe.
                                How far we've fallen.

In the same vein they must have expected Alonso would sit on his arse like nice quiet lad and wait on the LFC job to open up sometime next year, while they twiddled their thumbs seeing if Slot really can turn it around next season.

What a bunch of clowns run this club.
When they do fire Slot shortly after the beginning of next season after we have a disastrous start and there are no high profile managers available to replace him (because we were idiots who let the obvious replacement(s.....I wouldn't be suprised if even the likes of Iraola and them also get scooped up this summer) walk to rival clubs),... then the two clowns behind that decision-making ought to follow him right out the door.

Not wait until the end of their contracts, but immediately.
That'll be two seasons down the drain because we didn't want to act immediately when we had to, because someones thought it would be better to save a few quid by holding on to a shitty manager.
